Steps in Designing and Constructing a

Web Page

Step 1: Identify a Web Project

Why do we need to build websites?

Building Web sites may be due to the following reasons:

INTRODUCTION:

1. To advertise products and

services and make them accessible to

the customers.

Example: www.sulit.com.ph

2. To inform about the existence of a

school or organization.

Example: http://worldciti.edu.ph/wcc/public/index.php

3. To disseminate information.

Example: http://ph.yahoo.com/

4. To make information

available to users and to share

knowledge and expertise.

5. To announce upcoming activities

like fairs, sport competitions,

important events or even regular activities.

Example: http://www.newsgroupdirect.com/

You can also make:

• You can make your personal Web page so that you can

express more things about you and other people will know more

about yourself like your interests, favorites, family, and also friends. You may also post

pictures that remind you of your most memorable and happy

moments…

Your Personal Site:

Subject Web Site:

• There are sites that are made with the goal of helping other

students to cope with the different subjects in school.

This is called subject Web site. The best students in your class may contribute to this site. You

can also share research information through this site.

Student Organization Web site:

• If you want to share accomplishments and activities of

your organization in school, you can also make s student organization

Web site. You may include the history of the organization, officers of the

organization, its goals and objectives, the requirements for applying to the organization, and membership forms.

Step 2: Determine

the Site Visitors

If you build a Web site to share information with others. It is not for you alone. Consider what the site visitors would want to find in

your side. If your target site visitors change, it also calls for a change in the content. Different

site visitors may leave their comment to a site.

INTRODUCTION:

If you are building a school Web site, the following questions may be of help to you as you continue with the steps

in methodology:

•What would parents want to know about a school?

• What information would new students need about a school?

• What information about the school would interest students from other schools?

Always think of the things that would interest your target site visitors. People have different

needs and interests. The site that you are building should be one that can satisfy their needs and interests. The level of language that you use and the amount of detail you should put in the site

will all depend on your site visitors.

At this point, you just have to make sure that you have clearly identified your site visitors. You

know what information they need and how they

want to get the information.
