  How Do I Apply?1. Fill out the online application and submit to CIC for approval at http://myaccount.conventionindustry.org

2. Receive approval notification from CIC (within 6-8 weeks of application)

3. Pay your exam fee to CIC

4. Schedule your exam date with Prometric

5. Sit for the CMP exam (within one year of receiving approval)

Exam is offered 4 times a year (January, May, August and November)

165 multiple choice questions 150 scored 15 unscored (pre-test items)

No “all of the above” or “none of the above” Situational based questions designed to test application of

knowledge 55 needed to score – scaled score; not percentage Items are weighted; more difficult = more weight given for

correct answer

Recertification required every 5 years
