* All product trials.

* Evaluation of new/upgraded raw materials.

* Compiling all internal and external productspecifications.

* All shelf life / micro testing in conjunction withtechnical team.

* Ensuring that all new products meet technicalcriteria of all customers.

• Take agreed concepts and compile suitablecritical paths in line with company / customerlaunch plans, managing all aspects of the critical path to ensure that projects are deliveredon time.

• Ensure that throughout development process,products maintain commercial aspirations,communicating any costing amendments toFinance / Commercial.

• Ensure that the launch process is fully planned,documented and communicated effectively within the business and to the customer.

• Liaise with the Operational Teams (Production,Technical and Engineering) on all issues relating to product launches including the setting andmanaging of factory trials (both in main productionand Preparation).

This job is about driving processes and makingthings happen. It’s also about innovation andlooking for new approaches. You will bechallenging current practices to improveefficiencies, quality and profitability.

Reporting to the Process DevelopmentManager you will ensure the smoothtransition of product concepts fromkitchen through the manufacturingprocess – from concept approval tolaunch. You will drive the process,ensuring that technical and qualitystandards are achieved and maximising profitability.

• Present trial products to customer prior to launch.• Trial all new packaging options, ensuring there are

established and suitable manufacturing processes.• Agree quality standards of each product with the

retail customer.• Continually challenge the current manufacturing

processes to look for improvements and efficient /cheaper ways to manufacture.

• Ensure active involvement in all packaging developments• Carry out theoretical and lab analysis of nutritional

components when required. Ensure that products fitany nutritional requirements set by customer, tradeassociations, the Company etc.

• Exercise authority on food process and engineeringwithin the business.

• Identify, source and trial new equipment (in conjunctionwith engineering) where required to get new productsto launch.

• Play a major role in site continuous improvementprocess, challenging ingredients and suppliers wherenecessary.

• Present new products and upgrades to the customer in a professional manner, demonstrating your food andprocess knowledge and expertise.

• Influence change through close working relationshipswith the site management teams.

Senior ProcessDevelopmentTechnologistWhat knowledge, skills, qualifications andexperience will I need?You should have:• A Degree or HND in a food related discipline

e.g. Food Science / Technology, Engineering,Science.

• Basic / Intermediate / Advanced Food HygieneCertificate.

• Minimum of three years’ experience in an NPD /Process / Technical environment of a chilled foodFast Moving Consumer Goods company.

• Excellent project and time management skills –good completer / finisher.

• Excellent implementation skills• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

at all levels.• The ability to work both as an individual and a

team player.• The ability to create a favourable first impression,

project yourself well and present withconfidence.

• An outgoing and confident approach.• An above standard knowledge and understanding

of food.• Excellent presentation skills.• Good computer literacy – Excel, Word,

PowerPoint, internet NPD systems, databases,Microsoft Project etc.

• Good organisational, creative and practical abilityand not frightened to get sleeves rolled up!
