What’s the job? Senior Process Development Technologist Sounds interesting. What will I do? As Senior Process Development Technologist you will: • Be responsible for * All product trials. * Evaluation of new/upgraded raw materials. * Compiling all internal and external product specifications. * All shelf life / micro testing in conjunction with technical team. * Ensuring that all new products meet technical criteria of all customers. • Take agreed concepts and compile suitable critical paths in line with company / customer launch plans, managing all aspects of the critical path to ensure that projects are delivered on time. • Ensure that throughout development process, products maintain commercial aspirations, communicating any costing amendments to Finance / Commercial. • Ensure that the launch process is fully planned, documented and communicated effectively within the business and to the customer. • Liaise with the Operational Teams (Production, Technical and Engineering) on all issues relating to product launches including the setting and managing of factory trials (both in main production and Preparation). This job is about driving processes and making things happen. It’s also about innovation and looking for new approaches.You will be challenging current practices to improve efficiencies, quality and profitability. Reporting to the Process Development Manager you will ensure the smooth transition of product concepts from kitchen through the manufacturing process – from concept approval to launch.You will drive the process, ensuring that technical and quality standards are achieved and maximising profitability. • Present trial products to customer prior to launch. • Trial all new packaging options, ensuring there are established and suitable manufacturing processes. • Agree quality standards of each product with the retail customer. • Continually challenge the current manufacturing processes to look for improvements and efficient / cheaper ways to manufacture. • Ensure active involvement in all packaging developments • Carry out theoretical and lab analysis of nutritional components when required. Ensure that products fit any nutritional requirements set by customer, trade associations, the Company etc. • Exercise authority on food process and engineering within the business. • Identify, source and trial new equipment (in conjunction with engineering) where required to get new products to launch. • Play a major role in site continuous improvement process, challenging ingredients and suppliers where necessary. • Present new products and upgrades to the customer in a professional manner, demonstrating your food and process knowledge and expertise. • Influence change through close working relationships with the site management teams.
