I joined the company as a graduate in 1987 and I am now the Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas Real Estate UK. Both the property industry and our company have changed a great deal during my career and we have grown and prospered, with the company now being part of BNP Paribas, one of the largest financial institutions in the world.

PATHWAYS TO PROPERTYWORK EXPERIENCEWe offer a national two week work experience programme for school pupils to give them an overview of the working environment and a taster of possible careers within property. In addition to this we work with local schools to support their initiatives to ensure students have access to careers advice and information to help them make informed decisions on their career paths for the future.

SUMMER PLACEMENTOur Summer Placement Programme is designed to let students discover more about BNP Paribas Real Estate. You will join one of our specialist business lines, typically for four weeks to gain experience on real projects. It is an opportunity to make the most of your university holidays – using the time to develop new skills, enhance your CV and also deepen your commercial knowledge. This programme is ideal if you are in your penultimate year of study at university and potentially interested in applying to our Graduate Programme.

INTERNSHIP/INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENTThis is aimed at students who are intending to take a year out whilst at university. The programme can vary from 3, 6 to 12 months and offers the opportunity to work with and learn from property professionals within the business. Internships may take place during vacation periods, in between courses or after a student has finished higher education.

SCHOOL LEAVER PROGRAMMEOur School Leavers’ Programme is an alternative to pursuing a traditional university route. It offers the opportunity to obtain a university degree and or a professional qualification, as well as gain work experience. This is a great combination to enable you to start building your career as soon as you finish school or college. Importantly, we will pay a salary throughout the duration of the programme and give you the opportunity to be free of debt as your university tuition fees and professional qualification fees will be paid for by the company.

ASSOCIATE RICSAimed at those who want a career in property, recognition for their abilities, a move on to more challenging work and/or career progression but do not want to embark on a full time degree. This programme would suit people already employed by the company and could also support our School Leaver Programme.

GRADUATE PROGRAMMEA 2 to 2½ year programme with three rotations in different business lines. More details on this programme are continued on the next page.

GRADUATE PROGRAMMETraining is complemented by line manager coaching to develop the personal skills needed to enhance your professional expertise.Furthermore, your personal development continues once you arequalified.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Solid academic qualifications are important, but should becomplemented by the personal qualities required to helpdifferentiate ourselves in the highly competitive real estateconsultancy market. We are looking for motivated individualscommitted to a surveying career.

Most graduates who join BNP Paribas Real Estate hold a RICSaccredited undergraduate degree or masters. If you hold a degree inanother discipline, we will sponsor you to gain a RICS accrediteddiploma as part of your training programme.

• Solid academic qualifications: 2:1 or above;• Motivated and committed to a surveying career;• Have initiative and be a ‘self-starter’;• Creative and lateral thinker with an ability to express opinions

clearly and persuasively under pressure.

From the moment you join the graduate programme you will embark on a training programme to become a chartered surveyor, qualifying typically within two years. You will be given mentor support, full APC training via departmental rotations, APC mock interviews/presentation training and full support with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) lectures. Throughout this period, your APC supervisor will ensure you gain the experience needed to acquire the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Assessment of Professional Competence. Over 98% of our graduates pass their APC first time.

JOHN SLADE, UK CHIEF EXECUTIVE, LONDONJohn Slade joined BNP Paribas Real Estate as UK chief executive officer in June 2012 and has spearheaded an intensive recruitment campaign, bringing in over 50 key people in the first year.

He previously ran his own company, Accrue Capital. Prior to this he was joint chairman of capital markets and managing director of international investment at DTZ and executive head of CBRE’s City business.

During his career, John has transacted in excess of £10 billion worth of property and has a strong personal track record of deals.

“We have big ambitions to be a market leader in advisory, a major and successful commercial residential developer and a broad based asset manager with £5bn under management.”

LYNNE BROWN, SENIOR DIRECTOR, PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, LONDONLynne’s role as a Senior Director is a blend of three key areas: leading high profile service teams for the company’s top clients, key account management and business development. In her key account role she leads two client teams and is also a member of our Investor Strategy Group, a team that is tasked with developing relationships with investor clients. As part of her business development activity Lynne targets both UK and international opportunities.

HARRIET CHAMBERS, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR,INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTHarriet joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in September 2009 on the graduate scheme, rotating through a number of departments. These included corporate real estate working with IBM, recovery and restructuring, valuation in the retail sector and property management. She now works in the International Investment department advising clients from around the world.

“Choosing the right company to join was a big decision, which for me came down to a varied training programme, diversity of clients, friendliness, openness and support in order for me to realise my ambitions.”

BEN BANNERMAN, SENIOR SURVEYORBUILDING CONSULTANCYBen initially joined BNP Paribas Real Estate as a graduate in our Bristol office in 2008. He has since moved to London and completed his APC. Ben is now part of the corporate occupier team within the building consultancy department and has experience as a project manager and contract administrator for both public and private sector clients; as well as working on dilapidations and due diligence instructions.

LEIGHTON THOMAS, SENIOR DIRECTORHEAD OF OFFICE SHEFFIELDLeighton is a member of the Lease Advisory National Executive, with extensive experience in all landlord and tenant matters covering all sectors. Having joined the business in 1996 as a graduate, Leighton has developed with the business and is now Head of the Sheffield office, as well as a member of the Lease Advisory National Executive.

“BNP Paribas Real Estate provides lots of opportunities for talented people. My career highlight has been my most recent appointment to Office Head and changing the direction of the office to maintain profitability in these testing times.”

CLAIRE KESTER, SENIOR SURVEYOR, PROPERTY MANAGEMENTClaire has over 4 years in commercial property experience. Since joining BNPPRE, she has worked for City, West End and international clients comprising of both retail and office mix.

Claire has worked as the lead surveyor on the TIAA Henderson account (Vanquish portfolio) where the main objective was to manage the vacant possesion strategy for re-development. Claire has been involved in a number of refurbishment projects involving lift and extensive reception works.

Claire managed properties for Almacantar, Hermes RE. She previously worked at Workman LLP.

VICKY RYAN, DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCESVicky advises the business line management teams on their people strategies, employee engagement and cultural change. Vicky also helps the business to increase employee and management capabilities. Vicky joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in 2008 and was promoted to Director in July 2015.

“My role in the HR team at BNP Paribas Real Estate has been a real challenge, but one that I have relished. The collegiate atmosphere around the business really helped me settle in and it makes working here a pleasure.”

DAN BAYLEY, SENIOR DIRECTOR,HEAD OF LETTING AND SALESDan has 20 years’ experience providing development and leasing advice to landowners, funds, developers and occupiers in Central London. He has worked at BNP Paribas Real Estate since graduating in 1991 and leads the offices sector group. He is listed in the Property Week top 100 agents.

STEVE HARBER, SENIOR DIRECTORPROPERTY MANAGEMENTSteve joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in 1998 as a Facilities Manager, where he managed a number of properties for key clients such as Invista. During that time he was responsible for introducing

a number of initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of our Property Management service offering. After a number of years as National Head of Facilities Management, Steve was seconded to our UAE office in 2008 to identify potential real estate clients in the Middle East. Steve returned from Dubai in September 2009 and is now National Head of Business Development for Property Management.

“I am now in my sixteenth year with the company and every year has thrown up new challenges and opportunities. I enjoyed my time in the Middle East and having seen first hand how our colleagues in the bank operate. I am filled with enthusiasm for the future of BNP Paribas Real Estate.”

LENA LETARD, SENIOR DIRECTORITLena joined BNP Paribas Real Estate in France in 2002. Before her relocation to the UK in 2009 she was responsible for the co-ordination of global IT projects from our office in Paris. Following her move to London, Lena now heads up the UK IT team. She is responsible for defining local IT requirements in relation to both the UK objectives and the global BNP Paribas Real Estate business strategies.
