What is matter ?

Matteris anything that has mass and volume. Everything is made of matter. There are three types of matter solid

liguid and gas.

Three state of matter

solid

liguid

gas

Solid

Solid is one of the four states of matter . Solids atom are packed closely together unlike a liguid or gas . A solids atoms vibrate because how close they are. Solids have definate shape which mean that it has its own shape .

Examples of Solids

wood

plane

statueText book

computer

liguid liare guid has atoms that are more free . A liguids atom are father a part and not as many. A liguid can take shape of any cup or contaner. You can put it in a sguare cup it will be sguare.

Examples of liguid

water

juice

sodamilk

oil

Gas

Gas has the most free atoms out of the three states . A gas atom bounce every where. Gases do not have a definate shape but it can fill a contaner completely.

Examples of Gas

air

nitrogen

steamheliom

smoke

physical physical propertys are the chages of the object . When somthing changes physicaly it can be like play dough it can into different shapes and sizes. Changing somthings color is a physical change. It can change from one state into another.

Physical change examples

• A tree being cut• painting the wall• paper burning• paper ripped• apple cut in half

chemical chemical change is different from physical change because it can not change from one state into another . A one chemical property is the potential for somthing to change.

Chemical change examples• when you burn wood• burning a peace of paper• fireworks exploding• food spoils• baking a cake

Atoms a atom is what make up matter so everything is made of atoms some parts of an atom is the nucleus and the four energy levels . The nucleus is made of protons and electrons.

An element is sothing that is completly made out of one type of atom. There are 117 different

types of elements all on the periodic table.

Some examples are nickel Arsenic platinum copper krypton

A compound is when two elements come together to create somthing else like water being made of hydrogen and

oxygen

Periodic table

There are four types of elements in the periodic table gas liguid solid and synthetic. There are three types of things a element can be a metal a metalloid and a non metal.

differences

SUBSTANCES MIXTURE

Can only be one thing

It is always the same Can not be seperated

Made out of two things

Can be seperated physicaly

When seperated turns into a compound

Heterogeneous and Homogeneous

when somthing is heterogeneous that means that a mixture is not mixed evenly there is more of one thing then there is of anothere . A homogeneous also is made of two things but unlike heterogeneous it is evenly mixed . They are mixed at a molecular level but they are not stuck to each other

HETEROGENEOUS HOMOGENEOUS

Watermelon cereal apple orange grape

Shampoo Ice cream Alcohol and water Key gun powder

solutionA solution is the same as homogeneous . A solution is when you sture or mix the solvent and solute till they dissolve and evenly spread.

SOLUT SOLVENT

the solut is the one that is dissolving in the solution

The suger Salt Lemon Baking soda Food coloring

The solvent is the one that is doing the dissolving

The water Coffee tea soda silver

SOULUBILITY

soulubility is the measurement of how much solvent you need to dissolve the solut . The soulubility increases depending on the temperature pressure and surface area.
