Building for a Generation
Campaign PURPOSE & GoalVineyard Church is committed to reaching Kansas City for Christ and His Kingdom. Despite the space limitations of our current facilities, we are growing quickly and average 2,400 people over our weekend services. This includes over 1,200 children and youth who come here each week for the amazing ministries and weekend programs offered. In addition to this, we also average 230 children and youth who come each Wednesday night for AWANA and Connect Wednesday. We have reached a wall of sorts and the Building for a Generation campaign will allow us to raise money to meet our ministry and outreach needs.
Campaign Goal is $4,000,000
Dear Vineyard Church Family:
Children and youth are often seen as the church of tomorrow. While that is true, they are also the church of today. Most adults who are following Jesus today made decisions to follow Jesus as children and youth. Many received a sense of calling while they were children and youth. I believe that God is providing us with a unique opportunity through our Building for a Generation program. We will be able to impact the lives of children and youth for today and tomorrow. As we focus on this capital stewardship program, I want you to reflect on God’s blessings in your life and upon our church. Certainly, we cannot help but feel gratitude and anticipation as we seek God’s will.
I am confident that Building for a Generation will open new doors of opportunity for Vineyard Church. With the success of this program, we will be able to make room for new believers and provide quality growth opportunities for our children and youth.
We are now challenged to give sacrificially, over and above our current giving, for the next two years. This program requires diligent prayer and obedience to God’s leading. I genuinely believe that the people of Vineyard Church are ready for the challenge that this campaign offers. Let us enter boldly into this endeavor, believing in God’s provision and grace.
Please examine the enclosed carefully. With a heart full of gratitude and faith, I ask you to consider your part in this campaign. What is given is a personal decision between individuals and God. What we accomplish together will benefit many. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and may His name be glorified in this endeavor.
In Christ,
Fred Herron, Senior Pastor
Build Educational RoomsExpand our children and youth facilities by building new classrooms and remodeling existing spaces at the North Campus. These spaces will be used on the weekends for children’s ministry; and during the week for new outreach programs to help youth explore the arts and other potential after-school activities that will engage youth and their parents.
Scholarship FundEstablish a scholarship fund to help bright and promising young people to become empowered leaders with kingdom purpose.
10 in 10 Regional campusesEquip, train, and develop people over the next 10 years with a passion to launch more regional campuses in the metro area.
Every dollar committed to Building for a Generation will free up general operating funds for ministry, reduce debt on the new construction and bring us closer to fulfilling God’s plan for Vineyard Church.

One of our visions is to have 10 church plants or regional campuses in 10 years. Our primary objective with each of these locations is to reach new people in new communities who currently don’t have a church home. As God provides the right locations and the right leadership team, we need to be prepared to act. We believe that we are commanded to go out and make disciples of Jesus. The regional campus model has become a successful approach for doing this.
The Brighton Campus (our first regional campus) is now over 5 years old and has grown successfully in reaching the community for Jesus; so much so that it is full most every weekend. We have reached capacity for several children’s ministry age groups and there are several time and space limitations that constrain the campus. It’s time to explore our options for reaching more people through the Brighton Campus.
Our North Campus children and youth spaces are nearing capacity and we have a responsibility to provide the leadership and resources to help our children grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus. Providing additional space for children and youth will allow our entire church body to grow, love and serve our community better than ever before. We believe these spaces can be used during the week to help youth explore the arts, engage with other youth in after-school programs, and help families. Plus, all of our small groups, classes and ministries will benefit by having more room to grow and make disciples.
We believe wholeheartedly that God has given us a vision to reach children and youth in the Kansas City area for Christ’s Kingdom. We have faith that God will provide what we need to accomplish that vision. With God’s help and our sacrificial giving, we will reach our financial goals and be able to build this addition. A legacy of sacrifice and faith for future generations to see God’s enduring love for His people.
First and foremost, please pray regularly for our Building for a Generation campaign. Participate in the events and meetings. Make a commitment to learn about the details and the vision of the campaign. Secondly, give sacrificially. God has prepared all of us for such a time as this. The vision God has provided us can only be achieved through faith and sacrifice. HOW WILL BUILDING HELP US
REACH MORE PEOPLE FOR CHRIST AND MAKE DISCIPLES?
HOW WILL WE PAY?
When I was in seventh grade, a friend invited me to a
junior high event called Muck Fest. The craziness and
fun of this event got me hooked (although I came to
church because of my friends, not the teachings or
worship). Fortunately, a couple of youth leaders loved
me and showed the love of Christ to me. I gave my life
to Christ in the fall of my freshman year of high school
at the Rock on a Sunday night. As a young Christian,
people here encouraged me to: pursue music, lead,
and give back just as I was being given to. When I
left for college I was solid in my faith, and felt very
equipped to continue to do ministry.
When I look back I would not imagine that I would be
where I am today. I now have the ability to give back
as our Children’s Worship Pastor. I hope that sharing
my passion for worship, I can help kids understand
the love of our God a little more.
My husband and I moved to Kansas City about
seven years ago. When we arrived we were
looking for a church home. We tried out Vineyard
and immediately felt welcomed and fell in love
with the workers in the children’s area. We have
peace when leaving our one-year old in the chil-
dren’s area while my husband and I go to “big
church.” When we leave our children at Children’s
Ministry this gives us time to worship and learn
more about Christ. I don’t sit in “big church” and
worry about my children, because I know they
are being loved on and taught the Bible. Kids
have a way of bringing the family back to church
every week and their excitement for the Chil-
dren’s Ministry encourages me and my husband
to get involved even more.
I started attending the church when I was about
eleven years old. Immediately I began serving by
running sound and media for various services. As the
years went by I became close with mentors and leaders
throughout the church. Before I knew it, I was gradu-
ating from high school. A leader, mentor, and friend in
the church offered me a personal scholarship for me to
further my education at the University of Missouri.
As I finished my college degree I began to look for full
time employment, I was offered a few great options.
One of those options was back at my home church,
where the foundation for what I became passionate
about started. I knew this was a calling from the Lord
and I obeyed. It has become neat to see this invest-
ment comeback tenfold for kingdom impact.
My family and I have been attending Vineyard for nine years now. The last three years we have spent at the Brighton Campus. My husband and I volunteer as junior high leaders at the Brighton Campus and I serve at AWANA as well. Serving at Brighton is enjoyable because of the smaller classroom sizes. It is fun to interact and get to know the kids. With the smaller campus you get to know more families at a deeper level, although at the North Campus we get to use all the activities that may not be available at a smaller church.
We believe wholeheartedly that God has given us a vision to reach children and youth in Kansas City area for Christ’s Kingdom. We have faith that God will provide what we need to accomplish that vision. With God’s help and our sacrificial giving, we will reach our financial goals and be able to build this addition. Allowing us to leave a legacy of sacrifice and faith for future generations to see God’s enduring love for His people.
How you can help?
