What is the Women of Okinawa Power Alliance Network? The Women of Okinawa Power Alliance Network is an intergenerational, cross-cultural support
network to promote women’s empowerment and work place diversity in Okinawa.
How is the Network Structured? We will hold five thematic forums this year: Women in Hospitality, Women in Health, Women in Public Service, Women in Business, and Women in Science. At each event, there
will be a diverse panel of experts who will talk on about their own experiences in the workplace
and in the given field. A question and answer period will follow the presentation. Finally – and
most importantly – we will save the majority of time for a “mixer” to give audience member,
panelists, and guests the chance to “network.”
Our first event will be Women in Hospitality on April 28 at Naha City Water Commission
Multipurpose Room. In addition to our prestigious panelists, we will welcome many industrial
experts including
- Ms. Yumiko Ichikawa (International Sales Manager, Okinawa Marriott Resort & Spa)
- Ms. Cindy Kawaguchi (General Manager, Shigira Bayside Suits ALLAMANDA, THE SHIGIRA)
- Ms. Kaori Tamaki (Chief, OTS Rent-a-car, Okinawa Tourist Service)
Stay tuned for dates and times for the other events!
Who Can Be a Member of the Women’s Power Alliance Network? Anyone can become a member. We have students, new hires, mid-career professionals, and top
Okinawa and international industry experts.
Can Men Join the Women’s Power Alliance Network?ABSOLUTELY! We cannot empower women and ensure workplace diversity without the support
from the other half of the population. Our male champions of change are key to our success
and are welcome at every event.
How Can I Get Involved? The easiest way is to attend any event that you are interested in. Both the events and
membership are FREE. If you have expertise in any of the themes that we listed above we would
love to welcome you to the events as an industrial expert or possibly a panel member.
Where Can I Get More Information? Please visit the U.S. Consulate General Naha’s Facebook Page or email jahanamx@state.gov
