Draft Problem Statement

The Coulee Region Transportation Study, Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) phase focuses on resolving existing and long-term transportation issues between I-90 and US 14/61. The focus of the study is to identify strategies that address safety, congestion, environmental concerns, multimodal deficiencies, infrastructure deterioration, and to support economic development and livability in the Coulee Region.

The need for system improvements is based on a combination of factors relating to existing transportation problems and deficiencies, land use planning, corridor preservation, future travel demand, local community interests, and modal interrelationships.

Coulee Region Transportation Study

9

Draft Goal Improve vehicular and multi-modal travel and safety in a

manner that accommodates economic development, acknowledges community plans, contributes positively to the area’s quality of life, and limits adverse environmental and social effects to the extent practical.

If we are going to use these animations they need to be cleaned up a lot. These are just examples.More time needs to be spent on the areas that changed. Can we show a longer time frame.(more pictures) 1980 to present would be nice
Nate Day
Assuming these type of slides will be quick examples showing growth in areas...not much detail since we are nearing 50 slides.

Traffic Volume

Andrew Winga
This graph needs to be updated with new data. This is from the 1998 EISWe need this!

Need more traffic data, the peak hour data didn’t tell us much

We must have more traffic data available to frame our history

Need at least 1 or 2 more meaningful slides with traffic volumes

27

I am not sure I agree with all of the colors- South ave and West can't be red, maybe yellow- La Crosse and West seems like it should be at least orange- 16 and conoco has to red- Dowtown?- Rose & George?

Maybe a map of all of the signalized intersections in the study area- years they were added? This will be added
