• Electronic mail, most commonly referred to as email or e-mail since ca. 1993, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients.

Email

• The term "wiki" comes from the Hawaiian phrase, "wiki wiki," which means "super fast.“

• A wiki is a Web site that allows users to add and update content on the site using their own Web browser.

Wiki

• It is tagging a website and saving it for later. Instead of saving them to your web browser, you are saving them to the web.

Social bookmarking

• Stands for "Hyper-Text Markup Language." This is the language that Web pages are written in.

• Also known as hypertext documents, Web pages must conform to the rules of HTML in order to be displayed correctly in a Web browser.

HTML

• A podcast or netcast is a digital medium consisting of an episodic series of audio, video, PDF, or ePub files subscribed to and downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device.

Podcast

• Stands for "Voice Over Internet Protocol," and is often pronounced "voip.“

• VoIP is basically a telephone connection over the Internet. The data is sent digitally, using the Internet Protocol (IP) instead of analog telephone lines.

VoIP

• Online chat may refer to any kind of communication over the Internet that offers a real-time transmission of text messages from sender to receiver.

• Chat messages are generally short in order to enable other participants to respond quickly.

Online Chat

• It stands for “World Wide Web.”• It is NOT a synonym of the Internet, but a

subset.• It consists of pages that can be accessed using

a Web browser.

Streaming

• This happens when a multimedia file is played back without completely downloaded.

Blog• A truncation of the expression web log.• It is a discussion site published on the World

Wide Web and consists of discrete entries.

Social Networking• A social network is a social structure made up

of a set of social actors (such as individuals or organizations) and a set of the dyadic ties between these actors.

• Social networking is just basically utilizing social networks to express your thoughts, get information and communicate with others.

URL• Abbreviation of Uniform Resource Locator (URL) it is the global address of documents and other resources on the World Wide Web.

• A web feed (or news feed) is a data format used for providing users with frequently updated content.
