New Sunday School Theme
Please pray for our Christian Education year and new theme:
“LinktIn.” In First Corinthians 12:13 Paul declares, “For in one Spirit we were all baptized into
one body.” Not only have we been “LinktIn” to Jesus in baptism, but we have also been
“LinktIn” to a much larger family too, to one other as co-members of the Body of
Christ. “LinktIn,” may God bless our dear SS teachers and helpers and children and youth and adults and seniors in another year of Christian Education at Holy Cross.
Youth Christian Education
Join us in the Upper Room starting on September 7th! We welcome our recent 8th grade confirmand into our Sunday morning fellowship, as well as our leaders Sarah Craig, Dave Chalmers, and Sam Gugliuzza. We have some great lessons and video series lined up for the Fall! Remember also to bring your tithe/offering with you to
the Upper Room as we continue to sponsor Godwin from Togo, Africa, through Compassion International; we need $32 every month to provide him with medical, education, dietary, and Christian instruction. See you soon! Friends are always encouraged! Adult Christian Education
Join us on Sunday mornings in the HCCC main-floor classroom from 9:30 – 10:30 as we open God’s Word and listen to Him speak into our hearts and lives. All are welcome and bring a friend! Confirmation Kicks-Off: Orientation
Class Orientation is Rally Day, Sunday, September 07th from 9:30 – 10:30 in Krampitz Hall, and 7th & 8th
Confirmation will continue on Sunday mornings during the SS hour in the same location. As confirmation is critical to their life-long faith formation and beliefs, both parents and youth are now required to attend confirmation classes together. I look forward to our year together in God’s Word!!!

Visitation Care
If you are or will be hospitalized or homebound and desire Christian care from the Holy Cross staff please phone the church office at 634-2332 and/or email Pastor Randy at pastorrandy8900@gmail.com and let me know. Please do not assume that we know your situation because for many reasons we often don’t. We will do our best to visit you, and if homebound, see that you receive communion. In Jesus, Pastor Randy and Barb Wachtel (Parish Nurse) Choir News:
The Choir will begin on Tuesday, September 9th @ 7:00pm.
Women’s Bible Study
The Women's Bible Study Group meets every Tuesday morning from 9:30am to 11am in Krampitz Hall. We are in the second half of the study, THE STORY: THE BIBLE AS ONE CONTUINING STORY OF GOD AND HIS PEOPLE. About this study: God goes to great lengths to rescue lost and hurting people. That is what THE STORY is all about-- the story of the Bible, God's great love affair with humanity. Condensed into 31 accessible chapters, THE STORY
sweeps you into the unfolding progression of Bible characters and events from Genesis to Revelation. Using the clear, accessible text of the NIV Bible, it allows the stories, poems, and teachings of the Bible to read like a novel. And like any good story, THE STORY is filled with intrigue, drama, conflict, romance, and redemption- and this story is true! (A study guide and DVD will help us in understanding each chapter.) Scheduled meetings for September are the 2nd.-"God's Messengers", the 16th-"The Beginning of the End"(of the Kingdom of Israel), September 23rd The Kingdom's Fall" and the 30th-"Daniel in Exile". So ladies, the coffee pot is always on along with sweets to enjoy, so feel free to join us whenever you can. It's always a great way to start your day, when you "dig" into God's Word!

Vacation Bible School 2014
The Lord blessed us with the opportunity to reach 70 kids during this year's VBS! Throughout the week kids
explored the nature God and discovered that He is our Creator, Provider,Protector,Savior, and King! Each day we focused on Psalm 86:9-12, four verses that remind us of how awesome God is! Our mission this year was to provide for the needs of Orphans around the world. With the help of Back 2 Back Ministries we raised over 400.00 dollars for Global Orphan Care. The donation will provide orphans with the resources for unmet spiritual, physical, educational, emotional, and social needs. Thank you to our VBS Team of Servants who faithfully used their gifts to share the love of Christ... Heritage Home
September 28 will be our visit to the Heritage Home where we will continue the story of God’s creation, this time of all living creatures as recorded in Genesis 1. It will be a time of enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and the wonderfulness of people’s creation. We sing, “If You are Happy” stamp your feet, clap your hands, and sing amen. We will make a memento of creation and sing “God Has the Whole Words in His Hands.” A time of faith enjoyed by all. Habitat Buffalo
Thank you, Holy Cross, for your summer gifts of $138 and $184.25. The Veterans (new) Build on Fox Street is ready for interior painting along with two other new builds on the street sponsored by Thrivent and General Motors. Rehabs are underway on Rhode Island, 14th Street, Humboldt, Wilkes, and Alexander. Your gifts continue the blessing of simple decent housing now and into the future for each low-income homeowner family.
Holy Cross Joins the Joyful Response
Program:
Tired of writing a check every Sunday? (Tired of having to pay for more blank checks?) Holy Cross is pleased to announce that we have joined the Lutheran Church Extension Society’s “Joyful Response” program. This automatic banking system enables Holy Cross members and friends to use electronic banking for their donations. The donor can select any amount for their donation, and have this done at whatever frequency the donor desires. This system even allows donors to designate their gift to established restricted funds, (e.g. Dream Fund or Building Fund, etc..). Best of all, the LCES does not take any fees or commissions for doing this. Please feel free to see any council member if you have questions. Enrollment forms are in the narthex, and for your privacy, completed forms should be returned to our Financial Secretary, Susan Brooks. Thanks for considering!
