• Supporting by travel grants to over 120 Young Nephrologists from AP region to attend in 2018

APSN/CSN CME course in APCN (March 28, 2018 in Beijing, China )

• 1790 young nephrologists, nurses and researchers from Asian Pacific region attended this course, including 31 young nephrologists from LIC or LMIC supported by APSN and CSN.

• Five courses and 50 lectures were presented, among which 3 were in English (renal nursing course, diabetic kidney disease and methodology of renal research) and 2 were in Chinese (basic research in nephrology and clinical nephrology).

• 80 nephrologists, including young doctors from 6 countries from the Asia Pacific Region attended CME (China, Japan, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka).

• The topics of this course include IgA nephropathy, management of diabetic nephropathy, drug induced kidney injury, biomarkers of AKI, dialysis modality selection, prevention and management of PD-related peritonitis, evaluation and care of living kidney donors and transplantation immunology.

APSN/KSN CME course (May 18, 2018 in Seoul, Korea)

• 60 physicians and researchers attended this course this year, including two young nephrologists from HIC to encourage exchanges between young nephrologists from various countries and region. • (Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka,

Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan).

• Topics of lectures include CKD-MBD, renal anemia and educational, case-based presentations on electrolyte disorder and renal transplantation.

APSN/JSN CME course (June 7,2018 in Niigata, Japan)

• APSN and ANZSN jointly sponsored 13 participants from 9 countriesand regions (Pakistan, India, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia,Japan, Korea and Hong Kong)

• This CME course was held in conjunction with the NephrologyTransplantation Update Course and a broad range of topics werecovered in the fields of CKD, ESKD and transplantation, includingdiabetes and its complication, CKD, AKI, ESRD, genetic and clinicalnephrology, kidney transplantation, post kidney transplantation, andupdate of research.

APSN/ANZSN CME course (September 8-9, 2018 in Sydney, Australia)

• 103 participants attended the Meeting. 23 trainees from 12 countries(Cambodia, Guangxi of China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, thePhilippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Australia)

• This CME course was co-organized with the Hong Kong College of Physicians.

• Among the speakers are current Presidents of APSN (Philip Li), ASN (MarkOkusa), ERA-EDTA (Carmine Zoccali), CSN (Xueqing Yu) and HKSN (SydneyTang).

APSN/ HKSN/HKCP CME course (September 29, 2018 in Hong Kong)

Asian Pacific Clinical Practice Recommendations• Prof CC Szeto (Hong Kong) has helped the Society to form a group to study

the current gaps in the clinical practice guidelines for the Asian Pacific region, notably in the good clinical practice despite resource limitations in the LIC and LMIC in the region.

• The first Asian Pacific Clinical Practice Recommendation, now in progress, will be on “Evaluation and management of diabetic nephropathy” under a group comprising 14 members with good mix between LMIC and HIC countries. The group will be led by Dr Adrian Liew of Singapore.

• APSN will commission an Evidence Review Team to facilitate the work.

APSN AKI Initiatives

APSN AKI Committee• APSN AKI Committee was formed with Prof Zoltan Endre as Chair, Dr Li Yang

as Vice Chair and Dr Jinn Yang Chen as Secretary. Prof Philip Li as Advisor.

• APSN will partner with Malaysian Society of Nephrology and CRRT as Co-Organizer for the 3rd Asian Pacific AKI CRRT to be held in Malaysia in Oct 2019.

• The AKI Committee will organize a study on AKI incidence in rural hospitals in Asian Pacific region, probably pilot in Australia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand
