Welcome MessageSince Asia plays the pushing role in the world economic development, the progress of
science in Asia needs to be more presented. AsCNP is the youngest among the world leading
neuropsychopharmcological organizations but it grows in a fast way.
Psychiatry evolves with the advances of neuroscience, psychology, and social science.
Neuropsychopharmacology is not the one of the therapeutic measures for clinical service but
the instrument to understand the brain as well as the pathology of neuropsychiatric disorders.
With the fast growth of the population and tremendous change of social structure, Asian
countries are facing the various mental health challenges. However, most of our treatment
guidelines coming from scientic evidence conducted in United States and European countries,
it is partially because of the leading position of those countries in terms of psychiatric research,
partially because we have not established a collaborating network in this region. We are very
pleased to note that the advances in psychiatric research in this region are quite impressive
in recent years. AsCNP provide a good space to share our experiences, ideas, and results. The
similarities of our research questions provide collaboration opportunities while dierences
make us think more thoroughly. Another point I would like to make is AsCNP give more focus
on younger sta and investigators. Hopefully they can know each other, make friends, and
become working partners someday.
I would like to thank our colleagues for their persistent contribution and support to AsCNP,
particularly from other international organizations such as CINP, ECNP, and ACNP. There will be
seven plenary speeches, one special lecture, two meet the expert sessions and 16 symposium
and free communications. I truly believe AsCNP will benet all of us, from now on to the future.
Welcome you all to Beijing and wish the great success of this meeting.
Yu Xin, MD
Chair of Organizing Committee of AsCNP2013
