e excursions, tournaments, competitions andother activities. Most of these duties need theattendance of the officer in the afternoons andevenings when prisoners have finished labour andat other times when there is a great need for some-thing to be done.

It is notified that in exercise ofthe powers conferredbysection 6 (2) of the University of Lagos Act, 1962,the Prime Minister has appointed the following to be members of the Provisional Council of the Universityof Lagos for the respective periods stated :—
1. Dr E. N. O. Sodeinde, .3.E., M.4., M.D. and Professor Eni Njoku, Chairman and Vice Chancellorrespectively for a period of three years from the 1st of June, 1962.
2. Mallam Nuhu Bayero and Chief I. O. Bajulaiye, Members, for a period of three years from theist of June, 1962.
1PtM.S. G. Douglas, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., F.R.C.S., Member, for a period of two years from the Ist June,
4. Lady K. A. Ademola, Member, for a period of one year from the ist of June, 1962.
5. Sectetary to the Prime Minister.
