Issue No. 10 April 2017

It was great to see all of you at the Spring Convention. As a Zone we took 2nd place in the food drive with over 250 lbs of food. Good job! First place went to Zone 4 for over 600 lbs.

Also Congratulations to PDG Dan Cosima for his International award for Leadership. This is the third highest award from International. Fife’s Lisa Ikeda is the Zone Lion of the Year. She is always there when I need her to do something plus so active in her club. She will be District Secretary next year. Congrats Lisa! Our newsletter editor Puyallup Valley’s Cindi Lang took home a first place for Zone Bulletin on Friday night. She will be entered in the District contest. You will do great Cindi! There are other winners out there but I forgot to write them all down.

Congratulations to all of the clubs. We are as of March 31 a plus 9 in membership growth. Thank you to all and keep those members coming. Don’t forget Charter night for our new club Maple Valley Centennial Club is April 29. More information in newsletter.

This is the month for elections. Secretaries and presidents remember to complete the PU101 for LCI and the Club Officer Report for MD19. All information in LCI should be checked for address, phone numbers and emails as that is what is pulled for our rosters.

Dan was presented with the International Leadership Medal for his work with the Leadership Institute, Project New Hope, and his work with veterans. This is the third highest award in International and each person can only get one in a lifetime. Congratulations, Dan, this medal was well deserved.

Campers are busy signing up, and our Camp Leo leadership team is busy planning for our 2017 camp season. But we can’t do what we do without you,our FANTASTIC CAMP VOLUNTEERS! Your experience working with Camp Leo can make a big difference in the lives of many children with T1D.

In addition to the summer camps, we also need some help with our LIT Weekend (we are in particular need for medical staff for LIT Weekend) and Family Camp.

centennial UpdateLions is just a great organization. As we approach 100 years, this process gets more and more exciting. Our entertainment is under control, Vendors are taking shape, 20 Lions Clubs and 20 outside vendors, we are having a diabetes screening and the new health trailer is on board.

DuPont businesses that have been procured as vendors are: McNamaras, Farrellis, Forzas, and the Fairfield Suites. If you want a room Aug 11 or Aug 12, contact the Fairfield for a reservation. Ask for the Centennial rate of $110/night, plus tax. To get this rate you must make your reservation by July 12. They have a King bed room or double queen bed rooms available.

In our district so far, we have 12 clubs who will have earned three Centennial Service Project Patches come July 1. We have another four who need to do one more project this year to be able to earn their third four stone patch. We will have another six clubs who will earn a four stone patch this year. We also have nine clubs who need to do one more service project to earn the four stone patch. This states we have 32 clubs who will earn or are close to earning a four stone patch. Get to work and do that one project you need. Be PROUD TO SERVE. WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Secretaries please report these projects to LCI.

I am AWARE of 32 clubs who have a Centennial Service Project. I would like to be aware of all clubs Centennial Service Projects. Please send your project to me at, [email protected].
