Due to an increasing interest in Esthetics, Patients and Dentists have been looking for Metal-Free
tooth-coloured Restorations.
Porcelain chiP off
Marginal discolouration
Whats wrong with our conventional PFM Crown&bridges??
Increased opacity
The development of new high Strength dental ceramics, has dominated &are highly attractive in prosthetic dentistry, where strength and esthetics are Paramount..
ALL CERAMIC RESTORATION.
• ALUMINA
• ZIRCONIA
What is Zirconia?
• Zirconia is a crystalline dioxide of zirconium.
Zirconium (ZrSiO4) belongs to the mineral group of silicates and was discovered in 1789 by the German chemist M. H. Klaproth.
Currently available zirconia-containing ceramicsystems are :
•yttrium cation-doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (3Y-TZP),
•magnesium cation-doped partially stabilized zirconia (Mg-PSZ) and
•Zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA).
Why Zirconia is superior??
