What is IEEE 11073?

IEEE 11073 is an international protocol standard defined

specifically to allow the transportation of medical data across

a network.

The Continua Health Alliance is an organisation, similar to theZigBee Alliance, which has defined a structure and guidelines

covering the whole of a medical/health based system, from

sensors in a PAN to computer health records on a HRN.

ZigBee HealthCare incorporates a specific IEEE 11073 tunnel

cluster which allows the transportation of this data beyond the

ZigBee only portion of a WAN.
