Work in

FOOD

BANK

A food bank is an

organization that receives

food donations to be

distributed to those in

need. You might be

wondering……who

provides the donations?

A majority of food donations are made by food manufacturers, processors, grocery

chains and other food suppliers. Companies and organizations, as well as members of

the community, also play a key role by making generous monetary and food

donations.

As donations come in, food banks work to ensure that food provided to

customers is always edible and within the expiration date. Food banks work to safely

provide for customers in the best means possible. Food banks can be found in most

communities, and rely on the generosity of donors and volunteers to carry out

day-to-day operations. Food banks often host major fundraising efforts, such as

walks and other events, to bring in financial resources. All food banks serve one

purpose: to help those in need.

Now that you know a little more about what a food bank is, let’s delve a little more

into what the Peace and Youth Food Bank in this project is about. It is the first food

bank opened in Taiwan and kept operating so far. The initial idea was really

simple: ”Since there so many breads are thrown away everyday simply because people

don’t eat overnight bread, then why not collect all of them and distribute to those in

need?” The dream came true and now Peach and Youth Food Bank have cooperation

with more than 100 bread bakeries in Taipei. It supports the disadvantaged directly,

help them live with dignity and improve the food wasting situation!

Come to see and even participate in such a miracle in Taiwan!

Taiwan welcomes YOU~

Taiwan's total land area is about 36,000 square kilometers (14,400 square miles). It

lies off the southeastern coast of mainland Asia, across the Taiwan Strait from China.

The north is Japan; to the south is the Philippines. Many airlines fly to Taiwan,

making it the perfect travel destination.

Taiwan lies on the western edge of the Pacific "rim of fire," and continuous tectonic

movements have created majestic peaks, rolling hills and plains, basins, coastlines,

and other natural landscapes. Taiwan's tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate climates

provide clear differentiation between the different seasons

The Taiwan government has established 8 national parks and 13 national scenic

areas to preserve Taiwan's best natural ecological environment and cultural sites.

There are various ways to discover the beauty of Taiwan and it's fun and awesome to

travel in Taiwan.

the central highway.
