HGH TEA WITH SPENTA ARMAITI
On Sunday, August 11, 2013, a small gathering was held in the Library to familiarize the
ZANT community with the recent upgrades to our library. This event was in conjunc-
tion with our Religious Class teachers sharing their curriculum with the community.
There was a very small turnout, but those who attended appreciated the effort our reli-
gious class teachers made to explain their plan for the year ahead and the open discus-
sion that took place. The library introduction helped clarify procedures and practices
for the new ZANT Library. Thank you to all those who attended.

MUKTAD JASHAN
On Saturday, August 17, 2013 the Zoroastrian Association of North Texas shared in a com-
munity Muktad Jashan. The three priests officiating the Jashan were Poras Balsara, Yezdi
Dastur and Burzin Balsara. We had over a 100 community members who packed the
ZANT Center for this yearly event. Pouroo Dastur, our Event Director, planned, coordinat-
ed and executed this function to perfection. Nellie Desai graciously donated and set up the
entire jashan offerings and flowers.
Our young adults pitched in to help transform the hall into a dining area as the little
ones played around outside. A delicious catered dinner, complete with appetizers and
dessert, was enjoyed by all. Those who stayed for the dinner enjoyed the outdoors, the
food and, most importantly, the shared company of friends and family.
We thank all those who shared in this special event that gave us pause in our busy lives to remember our dear
departed ones.
MUKTAD PRAYERS
This year ZANT continued its longstanding practice to revere the
fravashis of our dear departed ones by hosting Muktad prayers in
the ZANT Center. Our table was set up on the first Gatha day
and Muktad prayers were performed for five days. Anahita
Sidhwa took the lead in ensuring our table looked beautiful and
kept the flowers looking fresh daily. There were 25 to 35 mem-
bers on a daily basis who participated in shared prayers, normally led by Poras Balsara. Thank you to all
those who came daily and to those who volunteered to cook meals that were enjoyed by all.
SEMINAR FOR COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS & THEIR PARENTS
ZANT is fortunate to have members who are willing to go the extra mile and lend their expertise to guide our
youth. On Saturday, August 17, Prof. Farrokh Mistree and his wife, Prof. Janet Allen, presented a seminar
for college-bound students and their parents. This was a great opportunity for students and parents to learn
how to make the most of the college experience. The session was very interesting and interactive and every-
one in the audience went away with many good ideas for the future. We thank Farrokh and Yash for giving us
the benefit of their insight.
Angels in the BackgroundAngels in the Background
If you have kids you must have seen the wonderful items they make, construct, cook, stitch, etc. every month in their Arts & Craft Class. These classes are run by our very talented Ni-loufer Bustani and Dilnawaz Rustomji . They often bring materials for the class on their own and come up with ideas for unique and interesting things to do in this very creative and fun class. Our children look forward to having a good time each month in this class. We thank you both wholeheartedly for your help and devotion in making this class possible . You are
indeed our Angels in the Background!

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT
This summer, ZANT's own Manijeh Rustomji was awarded
FEZANA's “Excellence in Sports Scholarship (EXISS).” She
received a scholarship of $1000.00 to pursue her training in
cross-country running. In August, Manijeh, through a pro-
gram sponsored by Texas Tech University, attended the
"Texas Tech High Altitude Cross-Country Camp" in New
Mexico. There she was able to use these funds to train and
further develop her cross-country running skills under these trying conditions. ZANT
congratulates Manijeh on her award of this scholarship.
