Women in History Essay/Art Contest The YWCA once again sponsored the Women in History Essay
Stand Against Racism (April 26 - 29)StandAgainstRacism isa signature campaignof YWCAUSA to
buildcommunityamongthosewhowork for racial justiceandtoraise awareness about the negative impact of institutional andstructural racism in our communities. This campaign is one partof the largernationalstrategyto fulfill themissionofeliminatingracism. Empowering Young WomenThe LEGO Robotics Club is offered as part of the ASAP after-
school program at Lincoln Elementary School. The six-weekprogram provides fourth- and fifth-grade girls the opportunityto explore computer programming and robotics technology in anurturing,girls-onlyenvironmentundertheguidanceofGettysburgCollegestudents. The Board of Directors of the YWCA Gettysburg & AdamsCounty announces the retirement of Executive Director DebGeeseyonJune30,2019.
DebbeganhercareerattheYWin1988astheCommunityServicesDirectorundertheleadershipofJenniferWeaver.Inthat capacity, Deb created a vast variety of classes open tothecommunity,frombusinessworkshops,artsandcrafts,bustrips,ballroomdancing,bridgeandmore.
In 1993, she stepped into the Road Scholar position andservedinthatrolefor13years.Debsayssheabsolutelylovedthatjob.
Her proudest accomplishment was taking the YWCA fromseriousfinancialdifficultytoitscurrentfiscallysoundstatus.Debinsiststhatshedidnotdoanyofthisaloneandcreditshergreatmanagementteamandallthehard-workingstaffoftheYWCA.
Shewillbegreatlymissedbymembers,colleaguesandtheBoardofDirectorsalike.Wehaveallbenefitedfromherenergeticleadership,organizationandvision.WewillholdacelebrationofDeb’scareeratadateclosertoherretirement–detailstobeannounced.Meanwhile,pleaseknow thatwehavealreadybegun the search foranewExecutiveDirectorandareworkingonensuringasmoothtransition.FeelfreetowishDebahappyretirementthenexttimeyouseeher.
