D.P Singh (Geography Teacher) Shree Mahaprabhu Public School, Allahabad
Role in YPL
• Mentored 6 YPL students.
• He guided his students to:
– Form an eco-club “Prakriti Nature club’’.
– Motivated students for “Swacchta ki pahel” at over 500
locations. Video documented over 100 such locations.
– Initiate a Green Code of Conduct in his school and YPL
members took a lead in dissemination
– Motivated YPL students to organize two Cleanliness
drives under “Namami Gange”, a campaign on Hand
washing in school, Paper bag campaign (1000 paper bags)
– Organized seminars on various topics for YPL students.
– Mobilized funds, other resources and information
dissemination.
Own initiatives:
• Have planted more than 50 saplings in his village.
• Connected school with Joint Forest Management and mobilized
resources and planted around 100 trees per year in last 4 years in
ashram.
Mr D.P. Singh has adopted the way of extra curricular
activities like campaigning, cleanliness drive, plantation drive
etc in his subject’s curriculum to aware and motivate students
to work towards making a better environment.

Own initiatives:
• Comes from a rural background and does his own
farming and is planning to start organic farming
• Takes effort to link environmental aspects in his teaching
and tries to give students real life examples.
• Has initiated steps in his school for water conservation,
increasing greenery in school campus and making school
a polythene free zone.
• Regularly organizes cleanliness drive with his students in
school and in nearby community
Nusrat Fatima (Urdu) Kastoorba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalaya, Nandpur
chinhut, Lucknow
Role in YPL:
• Formed an Eco club.
• Helped YPL student in organizing slogan writing and drawing competition.
• Worked very hard with YPL and other students to make her school a fertile land
Ms Nusrat helped students in following activities:
• forming a compost pit.
• Carried out cleanliness drives in school.
• Prepared a skit with students.
• Prepared a kitchen garden in school and regularly involved in its care
• With the help of students have prepared a drainage system in school to utilize waste water.
Own initiatives:
• Her school is just 2 years old and initially a barren land, it is now
full green, with more than 100 species of plants and a rich kitchen
garden. Ms. Nusarat is one of the team member who made all this
possible
• Takes all the extra efforts to make her school a clean, green and
polythene free school
• innovative- as all the oil cans have been turned into dustbins,
organizes small programmes to make best out of waste
• Plans to do composting in the coming session

• She started her environment related initiative as a one hour no electricity drive in summers and minimum use of lights in winters in her school.
• Being a HOD, has ensured, from the last 5 years, that teacher's diaries and other official documents are covered with old newspapers
• She took initiative in replacing piped irrigation of gardens with sprinkle irrigation
• Helped school in adopting a village for making students understand rural life
• Tries to celebrate all environment days in school
