• Hydro is the main source of energy in the Yukon.
• Also has small combustion

untapped minerals which attracts investors
• Environment has opened up industries such as tourism , mining, fishing, as well as a film and sound industry.
Government• Political
• There is free health care in the Yukon
• Government participating in global warming act
• They have been enhancing their understanding of what is happening and have made changes In their day to day life to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions

Economic• Largest industry is mining (lead, zinc, silver, gold, asbestos,
and copper). • The gold rush, which began in July of 1897, caused an
increase in population due to the wealth it brought in.
Economic• Second largest industry is tourism. Because of their geographical location
in the North, there are very unique experiences such as viewing the Northern Lights and the summer midnight sun. There is also wildlife viewing, public attractions, and several modes of transportation you cant find anywhere else.
• They were in the center of the fur trade, but they also trade mining materials currently due to their massive natural supply.
Social• There are eight distinct languages spoken by Yukon First
Nation peoples: Tlingit and six Athapaskan languages - Upper Tanana, Gwitchin, Han, Northern Tutchone, Southern Tutchone, Kaska and Tagish. Others, including Tahltan are less well represented but are also part of Yukon First Nations' cultural heritage.
Social• Archeologists estimate the first people crossed a land bridge from Asia to
northern Canada during the Pleistocene Ice Age between 10,000 to 25,000 years ago.
• The Yukon being very cold, the people there have activities relative towards their climate. These activities include skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and wildlife viewing.
Social• Fur clothing worn to stay warm in extreme conditions.• Highways are the main transportation infrastructure in the Yukon. “Old
Crow” is the only community that can be reached by air travel.
