ORIGINS OF YUCAN QM - DEVELOPMENT

The Yucan QM tool was developed by Desk.nl, a web development company established in Amsterdam in 1994. The application was developed at the request of an audit firm active within the education sector. Q3 2006:

Development of an online application that applies the PDCA cycle to the management of educational institutes and that facilitates their annual inspection obligations (Holland).

Q1 2007: Implementation of Yucan QM in the “ROC Mondriaan” educational institute (Holland). Both the institute and each of

the courses on the institute’s curriculum are submitted to a self-assessment process followed by an external audit. Q3 2007:

Release of Yucan QM version 2.0, including CMS functionality that enables organisations to continually assess any set of criteria, whether a (quality) management system, legal framework or a customised business model.

Q3 2009: The Dutch Quality Institute – an independent organisation founded by the Dutch Ministry of Economy – becomes a

Yucan QM partner and disseminates all of its products through the online application. Q1 2011:

Opening of offices in San Pedro Alcántara (Málaga, Spain) and launch of Yucan QM in Spanish and English speaking markets.

Q3 2011: The Yucan QM tool has obtained a 25% market share in educational accreditations in Holland, with a view of

acquiring up to a 50% share by Q2 2012. The application is further implemented in 385 town halls, various Chambers of Commerce and numerous private enterprises throughout the Netherlands.

Q4 2011: Opening of offices in Las Rozas (Madrid) and implementation of Yucan QM in biomedical research facility Fundación

de Investigación Biomédica del Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda.
