Materials

A Matryoshka doll (ideallywith at least 8 nested dolls)A Russian Matryoshka doll is aset of hollow wooden dolls

which split open into a top andbottom half to revealadditional dolls of decreasingsize each placed one inside theother. The outer doll istraditionally a woman, asreflected in the name whichmeans little matron.

The inner dolls can be maleor female. The innermostdoll, made from a singlepiece of wood is typically a

baby. While they aresmooth rounded woodencarvings, the painting ofeach doll can be veryintricate and often followsa theme.

Scripture: 2 Peter 1:1-11In 2 Peter 1 Chapter 1, Petertalks about our growth asChristians. This growth beginswith faith and culminates inlove. Like the innermostMatryoshka doll we begin as

babes in Christ. We arespiritually born again throughsaving faith in Christ. But to livelife forever as a baby would be

a tragedy. Peter says that if wefail to grow, it is akin to beingnearsighted and blind andforgetting that our sins havebeen forgiven.

This list of qualities are thingsthat are added to our godly

character as we grow in Christ.Each new quality does notreplace the one before it, butadds to it. These are not things

that we possess then give up,as a child outgrows oldclothes. These qualities are notmarks on a growth chart, butthings that we hold inside ourhearts and that we carryforward with us as wecontinue to mature in Christ.
