Pre-existing medical conditions – important declarations you must make
Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered at any time under this policy unless they have been disclosed to and accepted in writing by the Medical Assessment team.
It is important that you read and fully understand the Medical Declaration on page 20 of this booklet.
IfthehospitaladmissionorreferraltoaConsultant/Specialistisinrelationtoanewmedicalconditionoraconditionthathaspreviouslybeenacceptedbyus,Cancellationcoverwillapply.Iftheinsuredpersonstillwishestotravel,theMedicalAssessmentteamwilladviseifcoverwillapplywhilstonthetrip.As the Travel Insurance cover will continue for as long as the account holder has a qualifying bank account, and he/she remains eligible for the cover, you must tell the Medical Assessment team about any change in the status or control of any condition previously declared or if you or anyone upon whose good health the trip depends develops another medical condition.

insured persontobemedicallyexaminedonour behalf.Wemayalsoaskfor,andwillpayfor,apost-mortemexaminationifanyinsured persondies.9.If,atthetimeofanincidentwhichresultsinaclaimunderthispolicy,thereisanyotherinsurancecoveringthesameloss,damage,expenseorliability,weareentitledtoapproachthatinsurerforacontributiontowardstheclaim,andwillonlypayour share.ThisconditiondoesnotapplytothePersonalAccident,HolidayDisruptionorHospitalBenefitcover.10. Weareentitledtotakeoverandcarryoutinyournamethedefenceorsettlementofanylegalaction.Wemayalsotakeproceedingsatourownexpenseandforourownbenefit,butinyour name,torecoveranypaymentwehavemadeunderthispolicytoanyoneelse.11. Youcannottransferyourrightsunder thispolicy.Aperson,partnership(whetherlimitedornot)orcompanywhoisnotinsuredunderthepolicyhasnorightsundertheContracts(RightsofThirdParties)Act1999toenforceanyofitsterms.12.Ifyoumakeamedicalclaimyou may be askedtosupplyyour doctor’s name to enable ustoaccessyourmedicalrecords.Thiswillhelpthetreatingdoctors,andus,toprovideyou withthemostappropriatetreatmentandassesswhethercoverapplies.Ifyou do not agree to providethiswemaynotdealwithyourclaim.13.Followingtheexpiryofyourstatutorycoolingoffperiod,youcontinuetohavetherighttocancelyourTravelInsurancepolicyatanytimebycontacting HSBC Bank plc,butnorefundofanyfeespayableinrespectofyour qualifying bank accountwillbeavailable.14. Wecan,atanytimeandaftertakingafairandreasonableview,makechangestoyourpolicycoverand/ortermsandconditionsofinsuranceto:•reflectchangesinourexpectationofthefuturecostofprovidingcoverandadministeringyourpolicy•reflectchangesinthelaw,regulationortaxationthataffectsusoryourpolicy.Changeswillbenotifiedtoyouinwritingatleast30daysbeforetheybecomeeffective.Policycovermaybeincreasedordecreased. 15. We (or any agent weappointandwhoactswithourspecificauthority)maycancelthispolicybysending30daysnoticetoyourlastknownaddress.
Helpful and important information about your insurance This policy is not a general health or private medical insurance policy and will only cover you if you have a sudden and unexpected accident or become ill. It does not cover:
• non emergency treatment, or • any treatment that you knew you might need whilst on your trip, or• claims arising from any pre-existing medical conditions unless declared to and accepted in writing by the Medical Assessment helpline.It is therefore very important that you read the Medical Declaration on page 20, and provide complete and accurate information. The Medical Declaration applies each time you book a trip under your HSBC Travel Insurance policy; it applies to all insured persons and anyone else upon whose good health your trip depends, even if they are not travelling with you.
