Lord Jesus, you come as king in humility and peace. I confess, though, that there are times when I want you to be a different kind of king, my kind of king. I want you be there to give my what I want, to answer my prayers in the way I deem best.

Lord, I want to live a life of joy, a life where I follow you with enthusiasm. I confess, though, that my joy and enthusiasm can be fleeting. Other parts of my life can easily push you to the side. Forgive me, Jesus.
