A parent can write the pass

Students without a pass will not be allowed down the hallway

BreakfastStudents who choose to eat breakfast will eat in a designated areaOnce finished eating they may join their friendsBreakfast will no longer be served after 8:45

LunchWill eat at their teachers assigned tableAdministration will supervise lunch timesGet all food, drink, snacks, ketchup, napkins, etc the first time through the line

Once seated, students will remain seatedOur young men will clean up after themselvesWill dismiss by table and line up in your teachers designated areaMisbehavior will result in isolation lunch

After SchoolAfter school it is expected that students leave the building and return home. Unless a student has permission from a teacher, is attending after school tutoring, or is participating in extra or co-curricular activities.Students will be monitored until 4:45Students still on campus after 4:45 will be unmonitored

Students riding district buses will be expected to follow district rules while on the buses and cooperate with the driverRiding district buses is a privilege, which can cause students who misbehave on the bus to be removed for a period of time, or permanently as needed.BusesAttendanceIf students are not in attendance according to state law, missed days will be made up after school is out in Attendance Summer SchoolIf students are out for a legitimate reason, a parent or guardian must provide a written note when the student returns to school. A note must be received within 4 DAYS or the absence will be unexcused The parent must sign a doctors note as well

Checking In / Out of schoolAll students must be checked in and out in the Attendance office. The attendance office will have a form to sign students in and out of school. No child will be checked out of the building by anyone other then those individuals who are noted on the registration formLate Arrival to schoolIf any student is late to school in the morning, a Late Arrival Slip will be needed to enter class. The Late Arrival Slip must be picked up from the Attendance office Students are allowed four late arrivals per school year. After four Late Arrivals, students are turned over to a truancy officer.HallwaysWe expect our hallways, as well as any other area at YMLA, to be a safe and orderly environment for everyoneWalk on the right side of the hallway and keep movingAvoid running, being excessively loud, horseplay, etc3 min between classesACT LIKE MENTardy between classesThere are no bells at YMLAStudents have 3 minutes between classesYMLA classes will run similar to college classesStudents are expected to be on timeTeacher will handle tardiesExcessive tardiness or an excessive amount of tardies will be dealt with by administration as a TRUANCY issueSchool DisciplineConsequencesWe have high expectations for our young menAttempt to provide the best learning environment for all of our studentsWill follow the YMLA Discipline Management PlanDemerits will be issued based on the misbehaviorDetentionEvening or Saturday School: parent will attend SaturdayISSAEPExpulsionDiscipline ReferralsFor students who refuse to improve their behaviorYMLA can contact by phone, voice mail, email, or automated calling systemFamily must make arrangements for before or after school consequencesMake sure YMLA has your correct contact informationDiscipline ConsequencesDetention: Students are required to stay after school. No shows or late arrival will result in evening or Saturday school Future no-shows will result in an ISS assignment

Evening or Saturday School: No shows or late arrival will result in an immediate placement in ISS the following day(s)Parents must notify the YMLA admin by 3:00 pm the day of the consequence if schedule conflict

In-School Suspension (ISS): Reserved for more serious offenses and persistent misbehaviorISS will be held on campus from 9:00 am 4:45 pm

Alternative Education Placement (AEP): According to board policy, the Code of Conduct, and the YMLA Discipline Plan Assigned to the AEP for very serious offenses, and for persistent misbehavior

Expulsion from GPISD: For very serious offenses outlined in board policy and the GPISD Code of ConductLockers and LocksNo lockers will be issued in the building during the 2012-13 school yearStudents can carry their backpacks to their classesStudents participating in PE/Athletics will be issued a locker in their dressing room. Students will have to provide their own lock.

Electronic DevicesMust remain off and put away while on campus during school hours otherwise it will be take up without warning

Confiscated electronic devices, including cell phones, will be returned to the parent/guardian on the first offense. If confiscated more than once, the item will be returned to the parent/guardian at a fee of $15.00 for each offense or will be kept until the last day of the school year.

Teachers may allow students to use their electronic devices for educational purposes. This only applies to that teachers classroom on the day he or she gives permissionUnauthorized ItemsCD players, cameras, laser pointers, laptop computers, or personal digital assistants (PDAs), magazines, handheld electronic games, playing cards, and other such unauthorized items can be confiscated by any staff member if they are discovered during school
