Yes-No questions are the simplest type of questions. They can simply be answered by “yes” or “no”.

Example:•Dian : Are you a student?

Ryan : Yes, I am.•Trian : Is Lala coming today?

Maya : Yes, she is.

INFORMATIVE QUESTION

Informative Question are used to ask about Qualities, people, time, etc. they consist of WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY, WHICH, and HOW, that are usually called WH-Questions. Most WH-Questions begin with:Question word + Auxiliary+ Subject + Verb

WHO“Who” is used in questions as the subject

of the verb, usually the people.

Examples:Who is the man in the car?Who are you going to visit?

WHAT“Who” is used in questions to ask about things

or activities.

Examples:What are you doing?What are you reading?What does she do on the weekend?What is that?

Other types of “what” Question:• What kind of / what type of

“what kind of/ what type of “ is used to ask about specific things or characteristics.examples:- what kind of food do you like?- what type of car do you drive?

• What…… like“what…like” is used to ask about characteristics of something or somebody.Examples:- what was the weather like?- what is Lola like?

‘how’ is combined with many words to ask questions about specific characteristics, qualities, quantities, etc.

Example: How much does the skirt cost? How often do you go to the library? How long do you stay here?
