Yemaya family. Ditha Daniels, a waitress at Yemaya, expresses the benefits; “ When I get stressed out at work or at home, I always do what

my yoga teacher tells me to do – breathe deeply and focus on the breath…This helps me be a better

Cultivating Health & Happiness

To cultivate health & happiness within our guests, we must first cultivate it

within ourselves.

Yemaya is so much more than a hotel. It is a home and family to many. Our mission

of cultivating health and happiness targets not only our guests but equally towards

our employees. Witnessing positive shifts among our staff members is as important

to us as it is among our guests. Here is the story of Ditha Daniels, a proud

member of the Yemaya Family, and her personal transformation.

My name is Ditha Daniels and

I am a waitress at Yemaya. I was

born and raised here on Little Corn

Island. I am a single mother of two

and I find that this can be very

difficult and stressful. I must work

hard to take care of my children but

working at Yemaya makes it very easy

and enjoyable.

Today was my third time doing

yoga and meditation at Yemaya. It is

not mandatory to do but all the staff

members are encouraged to do it

because it is good for our health. I

love it so much and look forward to it

every week.

When I do yoga, I return to work so

relaxed and feel so wonderful. I find that the

staff members get along much better and

things run more smoothly after we do the

yoga class together.

When I get stressed out at work or at

home, I always do what my yoga teacher

tells me to do – breathe deeply and focus on

the breath. It helps me calm my mind and

focus on finding a solution rather than

getting really emotional and anxious. This

helps me be a better mother to my children,

to enjoy my job and makes me really happy.

Now it is my turn to teach what I have

learned to others.
