Age-old tribes rooted in Turkey’s eastern provinces Thursday spoke in unison to condemn recent ter- rorist attacks on politicians and civilians. Representatives of large tribes told Anadolu Agency how the assassinations committed by the outlawed terrorist PKK were abominable. Giyaseddin Seckin, representing the Bidri tribe in the eastern Mus province, said that any attack on the staff of any political party must be condemned with- out discrimination.“Killing political party officials... Hindering them by armed force and pressure, that is disgusting,” Seckin stated. He added that the PKK has a Marxist-Lenin- ist mentality which is alien to the Kurds, a pious people. A leading Turkmen figure accused Iraqi premier Haydar al-Abadi of ig- noring his community in the region on Thursday. President of the Turk- meneli Associations’ Federation, Ay- din Beyatli, said he had been to Iraq before its army, Kurdish Peshmerga forces and international coalition led by the U.S. launched an operation to liberate the northern city of Mosul from Daesh. Beyatli met Iraqi law- makers and NGOs and described his visit as an opportunity to share the opinions of Iraqi Turkmens. Turk- mens are a Turkic ethnic group based largely in Syria and Iraq, where they live alongside large Arab and Kurd- ish populations. The greater Turkmen community, which includes both Sunni and Shia Muslims, shares close cultural and linguistic affinities with the Turkish people. The Daesh terrorist group is us- ing civilian hostages as “human shields” on the frontlines of the ongoing battle for Mosul, accord- ing to children who have recently fled the beleaguered city. Children from the village of Adla south of Mosul, who claim to have recent- ly escaped the terrorist group’s clutches, say the militants are killing anyone who tries to flee and brainwashing local chil- dren to carry out suicide attacks. Ahmed, 15, told Anadolu Agency that he had been trained by Daesh militants in combat techniques, weapons use and bomb-planting. ”We were trained [by Daesh] in our village,” Ahmed -- who gave only his first name due to fears of reprisal -- said. “We did what we were told...
