HOUSE NEWS Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 18 th December 2020 Each year our students and staff participate in the wearing of a Christmas Jumper in support of the Save The Children Charity . Although this falls on the 11 th December, we have chosen to postpone this to Friday 18th December to coincide with our annual Christmas lunch; which is due to be served at the school on this day. It is also the final day of collections for our Food Drive. Students who wish to wear their Christmas jumper on Friday 18th December are asked to either donate a can or packet of food as outlined below, OR £1 that will go to the above charity. Food Drive 2020 Campaign The above campaign organised by our Sixth Form students will help provide much needed supplies for the local Food Banks in Southwark, Lewisham and Lambeth. Donations are being accepted each day from Monday 14th December onwards. Specially socially distanced deposit stations will be located at the allocated entrances for each year group. We would ask that donations comprise only non- perishable dried or tinned food items. HEADLINE NOTICES Early School Closure at 2.30pm on Wednesday 9th & 16th December 2020 --------------- Please be reminded that in order to facilitate the --------------- virtual Year 12 & 13 and Year 11 Parents’ Evening, school will finish early on Wednesday 9th & 16th December 2020 at 2.20pm for students in Years 7, 11, 12 & 13 and at 2.30pm for students in Years 8, 9 & 10. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Should parents wish their child(ren) to remain at school on these days, this will be accommodated. Please contact a Head of Learning for your child should this be the case. Year 7 Musical Ensembles We are delighted to announce that our Year 7 musical ensembles recommenced last week. As such, we would like all Year 7 pupils that play a musical instrument to join one of the following ensembles: The weekly schedule is as follows: --Monday 3.30 - 4.00pm: All acoustic guitar players with Mr --------- -----Molovski. --Don’t forget to bring your Guitars! (Electric Guitars -- will start -----next term.) --Tuesday 3.30 - 4.00pm: All woodwind players including clarinets, -- ---flutes, oboes, saxophones and bassoons with Ms Cawley --Wednesday 3.30 - 4.00pm: All strings players including violins, --violas, cellos, double bass and harps with Ms Melvin --Thursday 3.30 - 4.00pm: All brass players including trumpets, ------ ---trombones, French horns, tenor horns, euphoniums and tubas with ---Mr Musk and Mr Brown --Friday 3.30 - 4.00pm: All percussion players including drummers -- ---and pianists with Mr Jones All rehearsals will take place in the Performance Hall which is a voluminous space and will be subject to our strict DfE approved COVID-19 protocols. All students must bring their own instruments. Rehearsals for singers will commence next term.
