The librarian’s name was Peabody. Well, this week the children of St. Joseph’s have received a letter from Peabody. I’ve attached the letter below. Read the letter and begin to plan your contribution to The British Library. Your task today is to plan and create a miniature book for ‘The British Library’. You are going to write an autobiography - The title is ‘All About Me’. Write an outline for your story Today you will need to use the instructions below to construct your mini-book. You will need the following pieces of equipment: 1 sheet of A4 plain or lined paper. Coloured paper Wrapping paper/newspaper Scissors Small elastic band Pencil Glue Then, design Today you will start writing your story / autobiography to go into The British Library. Remember to use paragraphs to organise your work – don’t forget you are limited by the size of the pages regarding how much you can actually write in your mini- book. Think about your sentence structure. Extend yourself by incorporating the following into your piece of writing: Short sentences. Different sentence openers Parenthesis Relative clauses Today check through your writing and edit to make sure you are happy with your final piece. Is your piece too long? If so, can you edit it down? Have you included descriptive language if writing a piece with description? Have you included facts and information if you are writing an autobiography? Today’s the day you will need to publish your mini-book. Re-read your piece a final time to make sure you have not included any spelling/punctuation errors. Write your final piece in pencil first so that you can ensure you have enough space. You might like to include illustrations throughout your book. Plan your illustrations around your writing. I look forward to seeing your miniature books!
