• the art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal.

• The ability to influence someone to do something they wouldn’t normally do!

• To be a good leader you must first be a good follower

Indicators of Leadership

Indicators of leadership will point out whether or not a group, unit, or section, has either good or bad leadership.

• Moral: Attitude (good or bad)

• Proficiency: The Quality of work or performance

• Discipline: Control or orderly behavior

• Esprit ‘de Corps: Literally – the spirit of the core or heart!

STYLES OF LEADERSHIP

• Authoritative – Told what to do, how to do, without asking others.

• Delegative –Assign a specific task to a specific individual. –The leader that assigned the task is still accountable for the outcome.

• Participative – Involves ideas and advice of others. –Allowing the group or unit to have a say in the decision making progress is good for morale.

Physical Courage: That mental strength which allows us to overcome physical difficulties or obstacles

Moral Courage: That mental strength which allow us to overcome ethical or moral difficulties or obstacles.
