Yarralinda Early Learning Centre Newsletter Issue 2, 2017 page 1 What a wonderful term it has been already. A warm welcome to all our new children and families who have started over the last few weeks. Everyone is settling in well and many new friendships are developing. This term we have been delving deeper into books as the children’s interest focus. One of our favourite books has been ‘Ten Apples up on Top’ by Dr. Seuss, a rhyming story where the characters balance apples on their heads. We practiced balancing bean bags on our own heads and decided to make our own version of the story for our bookshelf called - ‘We have Apples up on Top.’ Parent Contributions Working in partnership with families It is very important to us that parents feel involved in their children’s education and add to our class learning experiences. Please feel free to email or let us know of anything you would like to share. WANT THIS FOR YOUR CHILD? The children have used our felt board to re-tell the story and have creatively been changing their voices for different characters. To continue supporting our students interests in books we have decided to embark upon the 2017 Premiers Reading Challenge, an initiative to encourage reading among young children, requiring us to read 40 books before September.
