  • Diesel Engine Performance and ExhaustEmission Analysis using Waste CookingBiodiesel Fuel .

This study deals withartificial neural network(ANN) modeling of adiesel engine using wastecooking biodiesel fuel topredict the brake power, torque, specific fuelconsumption and exhaustemissions of the engine. To acquire data fortraining and testing theproposed ANN, a twocylinders, four-strokediesel engine was fuelledwith waste vegetablecooking biodiesel anddiesel fuel blends andoperated at differentengine speeds. Theproperties of biodieselproduced from wastevegetable oil was

measured based onASTM standards. The experimental resultsrevealed that blends ofwaste vegetable oilmethyl ester with dieselfuel provide betterengine performance andimproved emissioncharacteristics.Using some of theexperimental data fortraining, an ANN modelwas developed based onstandard Back-Propagation algorithmfor the engine. Multilayer perception network(MLP) was used for non-linear mapping betweenthe input and outputparameters.

  • Nostromo Energy replace Li-ion with waterNostromo Energy is anenergy start-up trying tobreak into the energystorage business. Theyprovide new andinnovative, not tomention affordable, storage solutions byreplacing Lithium-ionbatteries with a muchbetter alternative - water."While everybody istalking about globalwarming and Li-ion basedenergy storage, we havefound a way to use wateras a highly potentcapacitor and solve themost crucial problem ofelectrical grids: high peakdemands, which arewholly subjected tocooling demands, e.g.,commercial chillers.

We have developed thecleanest, safest, mostcost-effective energystorage system availabletoday and in theforeseeable future.Their Li-ion alternative iscalled Icebrick. This is amodular thermal cell thatis, so they say, 10 timesmore efficient in its energystorage than otheralternatives. It also comes with awarranty of 15 years
