Judges & Teachers – YAGP 2016 Tampa, FL
Tara Mitton Catao Tara Mitton Catao has been a YAGP judge since the organization’s inception in 1999. In 1981, Ms. Catao founded and directed the Chicago Repertory Dance Ensemble, which has toured globally. She has worked with some of 21st Century’s preeminent contemporary choreographers, including Agnes de Mille, Paul Sanasardo, and Rudy Perez. Ms. Catao is a renowned dance educator and an award-winning choreographer, who’s been on the faculties of the London Contemporary School of Dance, the Gus Giordano Dance Center, and the Ruth Page Foundation School of Ballet, as well as the Harid Conservatory, where she has taught choreography and contemporary dance since 1994. Ms. Catao is also a freelance writer and a dance critic for the Palm Beach Art Paper. Rinat Imaev Rinat Imaev began his professional career with the Kirov Ballet (now known as the Mariinsky Ballet) in Russia. He went on to dance as a principal with the National Ballet of Bulgaria in Sofia, and the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Mr. Imaev was a recipient of the Gold Medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition, and currently appears on the jury of various international ballet competitions. His exceptional career as a guest artist and ballet master made him a sought-after teacher for prominent institutions and companies in France, Belgium, Japan, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria and Germany. Mr. Imaev is currently a company teacher at American Ballet Theatre, where he and he regularly appears as a guest master teacher for many national and international ballet intensive training programs. Bruce Marks Bruce Marks is a legendary dancer, educator, choreographer and arts advocate. Beginning his training at the High School for the Performing Arts in New York, he went on to study at Juilliard. One of Marks’ mentors was the great Anthony Tudor, who advised Marks to join the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and then the American Ballet Theatre, where Marks became the original Prince Siegfried in ABT’s first full-length production of the Swan Lake. Marks then became the first American principal dancer to join the Royal Danish Ballet, appearing as guest in many renowned global companies. After retiring from the stage, Marks became the Artistic Director of Ballet West, and then the Boston Ballet. From 1989 to 2010, Marks was the Chairman of the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi. He serves as a judge at several prestigious global ballet competitions, including international ballet competitions in Beijing, Helsinki, Moscow and Seoul, and in Prix de Lausanne. Meelis Pakri Born in Tallinn, Estonia, Meelis Pakri is is a graduate of Vaganova Ballet Academy. Pakri danced as a principal dancer with Estonian National Ballet and Colorado Ballet and appeared as a guest artist with Macedonian National Theatre Ballet, Martha Graham Dance Company and International Ballet Festival in Havana, Cuba. At the age of 22, Pakri was invited to teach at the Tallinn State Ballet School. Upon retirement from the stage, Pakri has served as ballet master for Colorado Ballet and Houston Ballet, and as a teacher at The Royal Ballet Upper School. He is to Japan, Denmark, Italy, Hungary and throughout the United States. He is also a frequent guest teacher for the Estonian National Ballet. Pakri is currently teaching at The Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida.

Robert Parker Robert Parker trained at the Royal Ballet School, joined the Birmingham Royal Ballet in 1994 and became a principal dancer in 1999, collaborating with Artistic Director and acclaimed choreographer David Bintley to create many leading roles for the company. He made guest appearances with the Royal Ballet and performed in many Galas around the world. Mr. Parker was awarded the Critics' Circle Award for Outstanding Male Artist in 2003. Even with a full-time dance career, Parker managed to acquire a US commercial pilot’s license, and completed a Master’s degree in Philosophy in Education. Mr. Parker was also selected to attend the 2012 Rural Retreat for aspiring artistic leaders. After retiring from the stage at Birmingham in 2012, Parker joined the Elmhurst School of Dance as Artistic Director. Xiomara Reyes Xiomara Reyes was born in Cuba, and trained at Cuba's National Ballet School. Upon her graduation, she danced as a soloist with La Joven Guardia, the second company of Cuba's National Ballet. She was invited to appear with the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Belgium, and danced with this company for seven years, rising to the rank of First Soloist. She has danced in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and has performed as a guest in respected ballet companies in France, Italy, Greece, Korea and Russia. Her awards include the Gold Medal at the IBC of Chiclayo, Peru, Best Couple Prize at the XIV IBC in Varna, Silver Medal at the Cinquienne Concours International de Danse de Paris, and Second Prize at the IBC in Luxembourg. Reyes joined American Ballet Theatre as a soloist in 2001 and became a principal in 2003. Reyes teaches at many national and international ballet intensive training programs. Adam Sklute Beginning as a dancer under Robert Joffrey in the 1980’s, Sklute was one of the last two artists Joffrey personally chose for his company. In 1995, Sklute was named Assistant Ballet Master by Gerald Arpino, then the company’s Artistic Director, and eventually became Associate Artistic Director in 2005. In 2007, Mr. Sklute became the Artistic Director of Ballet West, where he has expanded repertoire, visibility, and overall outlook with exciting company premieres, increased touring and public exposure. Passionate about dance education, Sklute actively oversees Ballet West’s Academy. Sklute is also a guest teacher and coach for dance programs and workshops worldwide, including Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, The Berlin State Ballet School, The Southwest Regional Ballet Festival, and The University of Cincinnati, to name a few. He is an adjunct professor for the University of Utah’s Ballet Department. Gennadi Saveliev Gennadi Saveliev studied with the great Pyotr Pestov at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, and trained at the School of American Ballet with Stanley Williams. Mr. Saveliev was a member of Bolshoi Ballet before he joined American Ballet Theatre in 1996, upon winning a silver medal at the New York International Ballet Competition. In his 16-year tenure with ABT, Mr. Saveliev has toured and appeared as a guest artist in North and South America, Europe, Russia, and Japan. He has also performed as touring company member with “Angel Corella & Friends,” “Alessandra Ferri & Friends,” and “Ethan Stiefel & Stars.” Currently, Saveliev serves as a company teacher at American Ballet Theatre and ABT II, and appears as a guest master teacher in intensive programs throughout the United States and abroad. Natalya Lushina-Zeiger Natalya Lushina-Zeiger brings a rich classical legacy as well as delicateness and discipline to her classes and workshops. Beginning her training at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy at age 10, she joined the famed Bolshoi Ballet, led by Yuri Grigorovich, upon graduating at age 18. Eventually, after leaving the stage, Natalya earned a Master’s degree in dance education, also from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. After emigrating to the United States in 1994, Natalya has been teaching in some of the most respected ballet institutions, including The Rock School for Dance Education (where one of her students was Michaela DePrince) and the Metropolitan Ballet Academy in Pennsylvania. Ms. Zeiger has a rigorous schedule of master classes throughout the country.
