1. Introduction

1.1. Presentation

YADIS (Yet Another Dune Index & Skinner) is a free application that can generate a

sleek interface to present your movie collection on the turntables HDI Dune. YADIS offers

also generate a ranking of movies by categories.

YADIS retrieves information from your films through the scraper Cine‐Passion

1.2. Features

Here are the main features of YADIS:

• Management of multiple source folders

• Automatic scan films (manual available)

• Information films in French or English

• manual editing of information from a movie

• Manual change of movie images

• Movie Ratings by categories (genre, duration, in alphabetical order ...)

• Centralize all movies distributed on several sources (export mode advanced)

1.3. Prerequisites

To install and run YADIS you will need:

• 1 PC running Windows XP, Vista and Seven (x86 or x64)

• Microsoft Visual C + + 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package:

Microsoft Visual C + + 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)

Note: for those who use a x64 version of Windows, both packages should

be installed (x86 and x64). For others, only the x86 package is necessary.

• A  Dune Base / Premium 3.0 with the latest firmware:

To detect YADIS movies, they must be organized as follows:

• A directory for each film

• Only one video file in the directory of a film

YADIS recognizes video files that have the following extensions:

iso, mkv, ts, ps, mpg, m2ts, vob, avi, mov, mp4, qt, asf, wmv, divx

YADIS also recognizes films that are in the form of a DVD structure (VIDEO_TS) or Blu‐ray

(BDMV). VIDEO_TS directories BDMV and must be located directly in the directory

film.

YADIS uses the names of directories to find information and images of the films. There is

strongly advised not to have any accents or special characters in your names

directories and files.

1.4. Installation

At the time this guide is written, the version is 0.9.5 YADIS. It can be downloaded here:

Installation is extremely simple. Just run the installer and follow the

instructions. You will just be asked to choose an installation directory and if you want

add an icon on the Windows desktop.

If an error message appears during installation, check that the prerequisites specified in

Chapter 1.3 are met.

2. Use

2.1. Principle

Using YADIS is extremely simple. To generate the interface Dune, it must pass through three

steps:

• Select the folders of your films

• Treat your movies

• Export interface Dune

2.2. UI

Here is the main window YADIS:

The interface is clear and easy to understand. On the left you will find a list of your movies. On the

upper right, the screen information of the selected film is shown as

Dune will appear on your turntable. Finally, in the bottom right you will find the log and

options, accessible by tabs.

2.3. Case selection of movies

To select your source folders, click the button   located at the top

left. The following window appears:

For network folders, the use of UNC paths is possible but you can also use

network drives that you previously created.

2.4. Film Processing

The processing of your films is to seek information and to generate files

necessary for the creation of the interface Dune.

Note: after the first scan the files of your movies, all movies will be marked

as untreated with this symbol:

2.4.1. Select Options

Start by choosing your options by clicking on the tab "Options":

Choose the language will be used for information films. Two choices: French

and English.

Then, choose from optional items that will be displayed in the screens

Information films. By default, all elements are activated.

2.4.2. Selection of movies deal

Now select the movies you want to process. Click one of the film allows

select. Multi‐selection is possible by pressing the SHIFT or CTRL

pressed. At the bottom of the list, you also select buttons that allow you to

select all movies, films untreated or previously treated films.

2.4.3. Checks postprocessing

After processing your film, it is necessary to check that everything went well. For this

check the log to identify potential processing errors. The films were

properly treated can be identified by this symbol:

A film whose treatment did not generate any error does not mean that the information returned

are good. Even if the automatic search is extremely reliable, you

verify that the information processed films are correct. To navigate in the list of

movies and check the information screen for each of them.

The following section describes the possible changes on films previously treated.

2.5. Changes movies

Shares of changes are available via a context menu that appears when you click

the right mouse button on a film or the list on the screen information.

After each change, YADIS will ask if you want to process the film again. There is

advised to do once all the desired changes are made for a movie.

2.5.1. Reload information

If the title of a film is not correct, use this action to perform a manual search. The

following window appears providing a list of films:

Choose the right movie and click

If your movie does not appear in the list, use the Search field manual "to specify a

as manually.

2.5.2. Edit information films

If you want to change some details of a film, it is possible through this action. Window

appears:

Make your changes and click   to confirm.

The button   resets the information before your changes.

Note: For players, it is only possible to reorder. On the screen

2.5.3. Change the jacket or fanart

This action allows you to choose other images to replace those that have been selected by the

automatic search.

2.6. Export Interface Dune

To export interface Dune, two methods are proposed. The standard mode and mode

advanced. Each mode is detailed below.

By default, export deals all the movies but only movies changed since the previous

exports are actually exported. You can change this behavior with the options

Export available.

2.6.1. Export in standard mode

In standard mode, the interface is generated Dune where are your movies. This implies that

index directory is created for each folder of your movies. This directory index is at

same level as a folder containing movies.

Note: in standard mode, the files of your movies should not be at the root

a disk or a network share because it will be impossible to create the file

the index at the same level as your source folder.

In standard mode, the Export window will appear like this:

Here is the description of export options:

• Categories idea

Choose here the categories you want to appear in the index. If no category is

checked, no index will be created.

• Recent additions

Specify here how many days the films added to your collection are considered

quite recent. This option is disabled if the category "Recent Additions" is not checked.

• Index Folder

Give the folder a name in the index. This option is disabled in advanced mode.

• Export only selected

Check this option if you want to export only the selected films. By default, all

Films are exported regardless of the selection.

• Forcing Export

Check this option if you also want to export movies that have not been modified. Default

only movies changed since the previous export are exported.

Once your options set, click

2.6.2. Export in advanced mode

In advanced mode, YADIS to create a single index for all your movies even if they are

spread over several source folders. This index can be placed wherever you want the moment

it is accessible from the deck Dune.

For common options with the standard mode, refer to the previous chapter. Here are

advanced mode‐specific options:

• Destination Interface Dune

In this field, specify the folder where the interface is stored Dune. This file must of course be

• Records of your films to Dune

Here you specify folders of your films to Dune. This is necessary because, to obtain an index

centralized, absolute paths should be used contrary to its standard mode

requires relative paths. Your Platinum Dune uses a particular format for these paths

Note: It is impossible to start the export format if the records are not Dune

The first thing to do is to define the type of site your source folder. Three choices

are possible:

• Hard

Use this type of site if your source folder is on a hard drive connected to your

Dune Base / Premium or the internal disk.

• Network (SMB)

Use this type of site if your deck Dune, your source folder is accessible

network using the SMB protocol.

• Network (NFS)

Use this type of site if your deck Dune, your source folder is accessible

network via the NFS protocol.

Now that the type of location is chosen, you must fill out the fields that will define

Dune your file format. Some fields are mandatory while others are optional.

Note: All fields are case-sensitive. So be very careful

Capitalization.

2.6.2.1. Definition file for a disk

Specify first the name of the disk drive. This is the name of the disk to your player Dune. There is

advisable to set yourself the name of your hard disk having first lodged a file

text "dune_folder.txt" at the root of your drive. The file "dune_folder.txt" must contain

line:

storage_name = Disque_1

With this "dune_folder.txt" for example, your hard disk will be named "Disque_1" for your

Platinum Dunes.

Note: It is very important to not use spaces or accents in the name of your

disk.

Then, if your movies are located in a subdirectory on your hard drive, complete the field

Optional "Path".

Finally, click   to save your file format Dune.

2.6.2.2. Definition file for a network location (SMB or NFS)

For a network location, it is obligatory to give the IP address and share name. In

SMB, it is possible to specify a user and if needed a password for access

sharing (both fields are not active in NFS).

Fill the field "Path" if your movies are in a subdirectory of the share

network.

Finally, click   to save your file system format Dune.

Once your options and your files to the format defined Dune, click

It'll just wait and check the result on your plate once Dune export

completed.
