Y3 trip to Hampstead Heath
Soil Investigation
Y3 travelled to Hampstead Heath to undertake
investigations on different types of soil.
We were met by Suzy and Julie from the
Hampstead Heath Project.
Our workshop began underneath the beautiful
bandstand on the heath.
We walked around the
heath looking at all the
different types of soil.
We took samples and
analysed them.
As we looked at each
soil type, we had to
test if they were
permeable or
impermeable.
As the final part of the investigation,
we added a little of each soil type to
a small jar of water and gave it a
good shake!
Hampstead Heath is a stunning natural
environment and a perfect place to investigate
rocks and soils.
