Editor’s Note by Una Ramses You are probably the most qualified judge in the whole of the country
when it comes the Oscar Pistorius murder case. Well, have you ever
looked at the fact that, was Oscar shooting with the intentions to kill
Reeva Steenkamp or is he telling the truth of what really happened,
all that will just be a mystery since only two people know what
actually happened that night. Those two people are Oscar and the
fallen Reeva, which unfortunately we cannot rally on since the one
has passed and the other is emotionally unstable.
Now we must ask ourselves that even with all the little knowledge
that we have about what happened is this just one of those high
profile cases involving our so-called celebrities or is it a reflection of
the lives that we are losing from the violent crimes, women/children
rape and abuse.
Yes we can sit down and hand over the final
verdict in the Oscar trial. However are we
doing enough? To address the increasing
death rate of woman at the hands of their
partners, the horrific rape and murder
stories like that of Anene Booysen. Until we
stop only taking to the streets and march
with the catchy phrase “we care” and
actually do something more, we will still
hear the stories of Bayanda Baba a UCT student murdered on
campus, and also the alleged rape of a 27-year-old woman at the Zion
Christian Church headquarters in Moria.
Every occurrence is a learn experience that we must learn from and
build on it. Let’s leave the verdict of the Oscar trial to our
experienced

Brothers in the courtrooms to deal with it and we rather focus on
how we can teach each other how precious someone’s life is and
how to control our sexual frustrations. RIP Reeva Steenkamp you
Sybil and Ivan Otterstrom may not be journalism graduates or a product of any media studies training, but
their entrepreneurship skills lead to the foundation of Romele Publications. Romele Publications is an 80%
black-owned publishing company (through Sybil), and the publisher of “Hola MaHigh-School”, which is
published in 50,000 copies and distributed to all high schools in Gauteng with the aim of branching out to all
the provinces around South Africa.
As Sybil was not available, I interviewed Ivan. The views described are, however, a consolidation of both of
their views as expressed in their business plan. Ivan is a former sales person and Assistant General Manager
of NCR. Like Richard Branson and every other entrepreneur, their mindset and risk taking instincts are
prevalent. He entered the publishing industry together with Sybil Otterstrom. Sybil is a former advertising
sales person and manager from Mail & Guardian. Sybil had prior expertise in advertising sales, whereas Ivan
has expertise in sales management and administration. This is a good combination of skills.
Ivan didn’t just manoeuvre his way into starting a publishing company. He first identified what is core business
and what is not core for a publisher. The core business of a publisher is not printing, sales, editorial content
etc. It is process management and financial management. Process management is to get editorial content to
meet up with advertising pages, to ensure the correct lay-out and get it off to the printer on-time and on
budget. All those small details. Everything but process management and financials can be out-sourced,
according to Ivan. Says Ivan: “we are not good writers, so we find some who are. We are not printers, so we
find one. We focus on what we are good at, management, and leave the rest to people who are experts in
their field”.
But can their business weather the publishing industry by only knowing the core business? “A detailed
Business plan in simple terms, a mission and a vision keeps a business running”, he explains. For Otterstrom
with the brainchild ‘’Hola MaHigh-School” established, now the mission is to have the vision of it being
published nationwide even in areas that other magazines of the same target market couldn’t reach.
So what now? "The next development is an electronic presence. We have called it an electronic presence
insofar as we believe the coming generation will not be focused on a PC based web presence, but rather on
an electronic presence available on other platforms. These will typically be iPad, smart cell phones or other
portable devices. In essence, we do not believe the device of the future will be stationary," says Otterstrom.
Ivan gave a magazine production 101 class. It is really symbiotic relationships. What sells a magazine?
Obviously good articles. But how do the advertisers view it? They look at copies sold (ABC figures), target
market and advertising rates. If this makes sense, they will advertise. No mentioning of editorial content.
Ivan mentioned the term “thought leadership”. It is really to outsmart and out-think the competition. If your idea
is so more revolutionary than anything else out there, you have “thought leadership”. Look at it this way: KFC
outlets are owned by the one who is running the outlet, but regulated by the KFC rules in terms of food, menu,
signage, etc. It is a franchise. The one who came up with the idea of a franchise managed to combine
ownership with corporate look. THAT is thought leadership. Thought leadership is not a product but an idea.
So how did someone with a background in traditional sales find his way to the publishing industry? It
happened by accident really. Sybil had been running their advertising sales company for some time. It had
taken off and needed more “hands on deck”; hence Ivan joined. Their common vision was to become
publishers and “Hola MaHigh-School” became the product. Otterstrom explains this by saying an entrepreneur
is a sales person who understands numbers in terms of spreadsheets and contracts. However, an
entrepreneur is a business person. One with the ability to get others to work for his idea and to manage
people and finances. This is the important point. An entrepreneur is more than a business owner. The
plumber down the street is a business owner, but maybe not an entrepreneur.
Ivan explains that the characteristics of an entrepreneur are:
Business person
Having a vision
Ability to sell (otherwise the funding will not arrive)
Understanding of financials Look at Branson. This is what he learned after his first mistakes. We may have been born with the right
mindset, but the rest has to be learned.

What is the whole concept behind Original Venda Hustlers? Original Venda Hustler is a brand which was started to show pride of who we are as Venda (people), since lot of Venda (people) where ashamed to speak their languages at work because people will laugh. We decided to make a brand that will show pride of being Venda, hence the name original Venda hustler is also dedicated to all Venda people who hustle hard to make money OVH is you and me, (it) is for us. Who are these Venda Hustlers?
Venda hustler is Mulanga Mahasa aka Tshidammba

Commack brothers from Venda number 1 film “30-
Cent My Trip to Venda.”
Since you started take us through the whole experience up until now. What was the vision back then and has that changed or is it still the same? The vision behind OVH was to unite Venda people through a clothing brand and it did that and now (it) is the number 1 top selling brand in Limpopo. The experience has been good, because everyone loves the brand (and we get) good reception from people. The vision has not changed us still uniting Venda people through our brand. Was there any financial assistance in getting the brand started? We got assistance from family and profit from 30-Cent films sells and a business man called Commack who owns Comic Creation.
Street-wear brands and every other clothing brand tend to affiliate their brands with public figures to utilize the interest of their followers. Who is Original Venda Hustlers affiliated with? We affiliated with all 30-Cent films fans and all the Venda people. Original Venda Hustler pay homage to the Venda people and their culture from its name and colourful designs. SECOND PRINCIPLE OF AN EAGLE
Eagles love storms
When clouds gather, eagles get excited. The eagles uses the storm’s wind to lift it higher. Once it finds the
wind of the storm, the eagles uses the raging storm to lift him above the clouds. This gives the eagle an
opportunity to glide and rest its wings. In the meantime, all the other birds hide in the leaves and bird nests
of the tree.
1 James 1 verse 2-3
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that testing of
your faith develops perseverace”
The only joy you can find as a child of God is through trials. According to this scripture, facing every kind of
trails is a sign that God remembers you. The amount of time Gold spends in furnace will determine the value
of the Gold. As a child of God, the amount of troubles and trials you endure will determine the amount of
faith you have in God. So for you to have trials in life is for your own good because it’s the plan of God to
develop perseverance. Do not faint in a field of war, your enemy may slay you. Even when it looks like the
challenge will kill you, do not lose heart, Jesus died a life of trials and fulfillment. Endure, then later enjoy.
Take every challenge of your life as a medium of transportation from one glory to the next. You are the living
Eagle. Live it!
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers whenever you face trails of many
kinds because you know that testing of your faith develops
perseverance”

South Africa Wake up! Human Trafficking is here by Vanessa Tholakele
It is the illegal trade in human beings for purposes of commercial sexual exploitation, forced labour or organ harvesting.
Alarming fact: of the estimated 2,000,000 persons trafficked each year, Africa accounts for 450,000.
Human trafficking is the 2nd largest profit-making crime in the world next to drug trafficking. There are approximately 27
million people enslaved in the world today!
So much for freedom???
People are trafficked for:
•labour exploitation •prostitution •forced marriage (in South Africa, women are often forced to marry older men)
•organ harvesting (especially in Africa)
According to some estimates, approximately 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation, 19% involves labour
exploitation and you can guess where the 2% belongs. Right organ harvesting

It’s amazing how the South African
Government is not concerned about Human
Trafficking as a major issue. Hasn't it come to
your mind that a high rate of Human trafficking
victims are HIV/Aids? Are u not aware that
human trafficking victims are often people who
never had an education, so they tried to make
easy money? Those people whom you are
sending to prison may be victims of human
trafficking, raped at age 4 and forced to
prostitution till their 18.The Government is
getting it all wrong, you are not to arrest a
victim but the trafficker whom are known as
"pimps". It has come to my attention that the
South African police are not trained to notice
signs of human trafficking victims in order to
safe this people who need our help.
As a South African, you should be aware and lend a hand to those who fall victim but it seems like
most South Africans are not willing to help out or see this issue as an urgent matter. Are you waiting
for it to happen to your daughter, mother, someone close to you, someone in your community
before you can act against human trafficking?
It might be too late, young girls are being trafficked each and every single day... Due to the
Sudanese phrase: "Use a slave to catch a slave". So, be aware you might be next...
Know the signs to human trafficking.

Before everything your government name is Keletile
Nyamane, what reflection does this name have on your
life? (Laughs). JAH, net? Keletile is a Tswana name meaning
"I am waiting". So to me it symbolises the fact that I am
waiting for success, but only after the hard work, I guess.
Who is Keletile Nyamane apart from Kay-E? Keletile
Nyamane is a former Under 23 soccer player, entrepreneur,
UJ Graduate and a Hardworking, Fun Lover and a
Trendsetter!!!!
What does your typical day look like? Wakeup, tidy my
room, bath/shower, breakfast, car wash, chill with my child
hood friends, studio and later on get in touch with my fans.
A lot of your fans don’t know that you are a former u23
national soccer team player with 20caps, how was that
experience of wearing your national team jersey and
carrying your nation’s hope on your shoulders alongside
the likes of Kaizer Motaung Jnr? Yeah, it was a great
experience and feeling, representing my hood and most of
all my country. Also the fact that I was not even playing in
the PSL by that time. Those are some of the memories that
bring joy to my heart. Some of the players I played
alongside are The late GREAT Gift Leremi, Joseph Makhanya,
Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Teko Modise, Oupa Manyisa,
Mabhuthi Khanyeza, Lebogang Mokoena, just to mention a
few.
Now the decision to hang up the soccer boots for the
microphone, how did that came about? When I was
playing for the national team, Orlando Pirates (Youth) Coach
Augusto Palacios wanted me to come play for them
and when I asked the owner of our team, Soweto Panthers,
Mr Albert Mokoena, who was also the CEO of SAFA by then,
he refused to let me go and wanted me to move up with
the team from the lower league. I couldn’t do anything
because he was in charge of the country's footballing
structure by then. I decided to stop playing soccer and
started looking for a job and that’s when I got a chance to
focus on my music.
Let’s talk “From Ndofaya with Colour” your first
mixtape, you realised it independently and still manage
to sell a number of copies, and what did this mean for
your music career? Yeah, it was through hard work and my
team, 6 individuals, who made the project successful. I
managed to sell more than 3000 copies on the streets,
independently and there after Put 1000 more in stores.
From the proceeds, we shot 5 music videos. A first for a
South African Mixtape!!!!
13
At one point your first single “Bona Re etsang” overtook
“uMshini Wami” as the second national anthem, the song was
all over the radio waves, even when the remix came, it was
also well received by the masses. What was going through
your mind at that moment? I was very surprised by that hey, it
was my first single and BANG everybody liked it. I even thought
of releasing an album then. It also put pressure on me to release
a hotter single.
Many artist after realising their first material they
move to the north of Joburg, we’ve seen this even
done by some of the artists from Maftown, Cap City
and even Soweto. What keeps you in Ndofaya
(Meadowlands, Soweto)? (Laughs). I am also moving
soon, joking!!!! You see, I rap about real hood stories and
the way of life in the hood, so how else can one rap about
things that they not part of, or that they don’t experience.
Who has being the biggest influence of your music
career? First it was my Music Manager/Friend Sphiwe
Nkosi. He encouraged me to do GOOD music for the
masses, not just any song. And also encouraged me to
work hard to reap the rewards. And (right) now it’s my fans,
I like it when the keep saying to me KEEP IT UP, I know
then that I am doing something right.
What is your connections with GREENLIGHT
Entertainment? I own it. There were 6 of us owning it, but
my partners since started their own companies, business
move, and no bad blood!!!!
What has been the biggest challenge of your road to
success and what has been the highlight of your career
thus far? The biggest challenge has been getting out for
my fans in the homeland, it is kinda difficult when you are
independent. The highlight of my career was being chosen
as the best unsigned hype Artist in 2010
You recently released your new single “Nomayini”,
what’s next to tick of as an accomplishment for? Yeah
