Members are at the heart of everything we doAs more members take advantage of pension flexibilities, communicating with members is more important than ever. There is clear rationale for more detailed and effective communications throughout the pre-retirement journey, on top of ‘traditional’ scheme communications such as newsletters, benefit statements and retirement quotes.
We understand that many pension scheme members do not fully understand their pension, especially since the introduction of the pension freedoms.
By working closely with the Plain English Campaign, XPS’ communication with pension scheme members takes a simple and clear approach. This ensures that members are given the right tools to understand their pension plan in order to make informed decisions when they need to.
We invest in members and create communication strategies that are engaging, creative and varied to deliver a sustained improvement in engagement levels. Each scheme, regardless of its size, requires a bespoke and targeted communications strategy. Schemes with memberships’ from 10 to 100,000 have access to the following range of communications:
Retirement packs
Bespoke benefit statements
Animations
Online engagement
Newsletters
Retirement journeys
Interactive booklets
Member options
New Online Capability
Last year we re-developed our member web services site (www.mypension.com) from the ground up. We set out clear technology design goals that would ensure we delivered a robust, scalable, reusable and responsive website. Using some of the latest web technologies, the site is now able to fulfil our scalability and reliability goals. This allows us to make future changes more quickly and consistently.
The new www.mypension.com site provides all the functionality of the old site and much more. Using a PC, Tablet or Smart Phone, members can manage their personal data, run real time retirement estimates, utilise DC modelling and view their pension scheme documents which includes benefit statements, transfer value quotes and online payslips.
Launch of new Perth officeEarlier this year (in August) XPS opened a new office in Saltire House on Whitefriars Crescent in Perth starting with a team of 45 members of staff and the capacity to grow to a team of 72. 38 members of staff moved to XPS as part of a TUPE transfer from Aviva where four schemes had previously been administered in-house. These pension schemes have close to a combined 90,000 live membership under management resulting in our largest client across the business.
This project was the largest administration transition that XPS has undertaken to date and the project team involved included representation from every area across the business. High levels of calculation automation have been implemented across all of the Schemes and the transition has been a great success.
The setting up of our office in Perth has not only been a huge leap forward for XPS, but also for the local area and employment market as we will be looking to grow the team and offer the full range of services that we can provide to other potential clients over the coming months and years.
