The perfect cruising companionDear Fellow Yachtsmen,
We are proud to introduce the Xc 50; a continuation of the new Xc line which sets new
cruising standards for connoisseurs and dedicated sailing enthusiasts alike.
The Xc 50 delivers a long-distance cruising experience beyond all expectations.
Drawing on our wealth of design knowledge, it represents the third in a family of
innovative new generation cruisers, that use the best transferable features from our
racing and performance yachts.
Throughout the entire design process, our ambition has been to create the optimum
characteristics for long-distance cruising. Our working philosophy has stressed the
importance of reaching each new destination in the most relaxed and pleasurable way.
We all have an idea of the perfect sailing lifestyle, our own nautical heaven. Whatever
your dream is, the Xc 50 will take you there in style and comfort: the perfect cruising
companion. Our best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable cruise.

PRACTICAL LIFERAFT STOWAGE
OPTIONAL STERN ANCHOR
The design brief for the Xc 50 very much followed the same lines as for the Xc 45,
but of course we have refined and improved some details to integrate them
effectively onto a larger boat. The Xc 45 has life raft storage in the transom;
this was extremely well received, as was the powered bathing platform and the
stern anchor arrangement.
The Xc 50 will feature an extra storage compartment in the port side of the
transom; which can either house flammable material like portable diesel cans
or can accommodate a hinged stern anchor system. Neatly hidden behind a
similarly side-hinged door, on the starboard side, is a liferaft ready for launch.
Optional stern davits make launching, and recovery, of the yacht’s tender simple.

Xc 50 hull lines
One of the main differences between the Xperformance line and the new Xcruising line
is the hull design. The Xc line, with its deeper hull sections, provides a greater interior
volume for tanks, and other essential cruising equipment; a feature which also provides
smoother sailing in all weathers.
The Xc 50 is designed and developed for long-distance cruising, incorporating the most
significant X-Yachts’ qualities: powerful main engine in a well-insulated compartment,
with a 3-bladed folding propeller; large fuel and fresh water tanks, all strategically
located low and central in the yacht for optimum weight distribution; an immensely
strong steel hull girder frame, taking the loads from the composite lead/cast iron keel
as well as from the keel stepped mast, and the discontinuous rod rigging.

What the press say
“ Short-handed sailing was simple and a joy with the kite up. The accommodation is
smart and beautifully finished with a galley to delight the off-watch. ” yachting World, August 2010
”
“ Under her good-natured appearance, the Xc can really fly! As far as manoeuvres
and boat-handling are concerned, it’s hard to find fault. ”“ Sous des airs bon enfant, ça marche un Xc ! Quant aux manoeuvres, à leur positionnement,
elles n’appellent que des commentaires élogieux. ” Voile Magazine, August 2010
“ Dedicated to... all those who want to seriously cover some miles without losing the
flavour of a real sailing boat, stable and comfortable and fun as a fast cruiser. ”“ Dedicato a... tutti quelli che vogliono navigare seriamente senza perdere il gusto di una vera barca a vela,
stabile e confortevole ma divertente come un fast-cruiser. ” Fare Vela, September/October 2010
“ The Xc 50 is still an X, though, so any boats you wish to meet on
your way should start early if they want to follow! ”“ Men Xc 50 er altså stadig en X’er, så de man møder på sin vej skal
stå tidligt op, hvis de vil følge med. ” Bådmagasinet, July 2010

A no-nonsense deck planHIGH STABILITy
PRACTICAL DRAFT
CONFIDENCE INSPIRING
The Xc 50 has higher stability than our traditional models;
despite a reduction in draft of approx 10% compared to
the performance cruiser range. Displacement is higher to
accommodate all the extra weight from a bigger engine,
generator, larger tanks, and greater battery capacity. Generally she
has a higher specification than an equivalent Xp, so the length and
beam at the waterline has also been extended and weight added
to the keel bulb. All this makes the Xc 50 a very easy and safe
yacht, and enables her to carry more canvas.
The sail plan is designed to allow her to reach maximum hull
speed in approximately 9 knots true wind speed using a 140%
overlapping Genoa. However it has been cleverly designed to
make her ‘stiffer’ than you would expect and the sails easily
managed by a short-handed crew. The standard specification
includes all the features X-Yachts clients admire and have come
to expect: stainless steel self-tailing winches, high quality blocks,
discontinuous rod rigging, hydraulically adjustable backstay, and
smooth running single line reefing.
Halyards and control lines run under the deck to feed two halyard
winches, which can be electrically powered. The mainsheet
runs below the side decks to the cockpit winches, next to the
helmsman, and these too have the option of electric power.
Spray hood folded down into zipped canvas bag.
Raised conventional spray hood in strong canvas.
Optional wind shield with integrated spray hood.
Optional bimini offers protection rain or shine.
Control at the helmTWIN WHEELS
CENTRAL INSTRuMENT CLuSTER
ERGONOMIC ARRANGEMENT
The helmsman’s position provides excellent sight lines forward whilst
sailing and manoeuvring. The central instrument console ensures a good
view of the navigation instruments, and doubles as a secure handhold for
use at sea.
The throttle and engine control panel are mounted in a starboard cockpit
recess, for safe and reliable handling. Every detail is designed to maximise
the skipper’s control at the helm and to help a short-handed crew work safely.
Three cockpit lockers, two forward and one aft of the steering wheels,
provide ample storage for lines, fenders and cruising equipment.
For halyards and control lines, a dedicated locker is integrated in the cockpit
sole next to the companionway. Washboards are spring loaded and slide with
minimal effort into a recess under the deck. Pushpit seats offer great views
from the aft quarters.
16 17
The Xc50 standard version comes with a forward berth on the centre line. This
includes the head/shower compartment to port, with space for a washing machine
to be installed in the shower compartment. Alternatively the forward cabin can also
be offered with an enlarged sail / crew cabin to accommodate one freeboard-hung
pipe-berth, toilet, washbasin and wardrobe. This version will have a head/shower
compartment forward of the owner’s cabin, which has the double berth positioned to
port. The sofa arrangement on this cabin’s starboard side can either be; a short version
with a wardrobe in both ends; or a 200 cm sofa with just one wardrobe (version A3).
The accommodation comes with two aft cabins; either with symmetrical ensuite heads
as standard, alternatively with ensuite head to starboard with an enlarged galley and
additional worktops to port.
The interior joinery of the Xc 50 is crafted in high grade marine teak.
Panel effect bulkheads use recessed thin teak battens, to create a
modernist/cubist environment. The bulkheads are either painted white or
use the same high grade teak as the furniture. You are free to choose.

The interior of the Xc 50 comes with white surfaced structural bulkheads and recessed
teak stripes for a modern, panelled look as standard, or alternatively a teak veneer also
with recessed battens. The galley, nav station, sofa fronts, lockers, shelves, wardrobe
fiddles and grab rails are all made of high quality teak. The cabinetry is assembled and
hand-finished by our specialist joiners using a satin varnish.

The workspaceIt seems that as time moves on navigation stations have become more like the
yacht’s office. The master chartplotter is normally located in the cockpit table
console on deck, with a monitor down below. Meanwhile the PC keyboard,
printers and a hard drive can be integrated into the office furniture. The yacht’s
electrical main switchboard is located outboard, with all the major fuses and
connections housed in a sealed waterproof GRP box.
