CMOS-based solutions promise to be small, cheap, and smart, moreover they open the way to high parallelism and signal (pre-) processing close to the transducer site where these signals are generated. A number of in-vitro applications - in life sciences, biotechnology, medical diagnosis, ... - utilizing biosensor arrays are expected to exploit these properties, and a couple of approaches already have been successfully commercialized or are on the way.

ELECTIVE -3 ------- DESIGN OF PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE
(BC-172713) Contents: Introduction to the design and implementation of programming languages, studying language features as tools for expressing algorithms, studying compilers, interpreters, and virtual machines as tools to map those features efficiently onto modern computer hardware. The course will touch on a wide variety of languages, both past and present, with an emphasis on modern imperative languages, such as C++, and Java. Rather than dwell on the features of any particular language, we will focus instead on fundamental concepts, and on the differences between languages, the reasons for those differences, and the implications those differences have for compiler implementation.
