WYNDHAM PARK Primary School Term 3 Issue 4 September 2017 Hola, Our term continues to move forward with our students enjoying their learning and showing us just how amazing they can be. Literacy & Numeracy week has been a great hit with a week of fun classroom activities and then finishing with the amazing book week parade that had many students, parents, and teachers dressing up. It was great to see so many different characters and we thank the parents for assisting our students in preparing for this day. NAPLAN results The school recently received our NAPLAN results; our amazing students and teachers in grade 3 & 5 have had excellent success in many areas of these tests. Of particular note is our high growth in Maths and Writing. In both of these areas we have performed better than the state average. These results show that the hard work our wonderful teachers do to support our students is paying off and ensuring WPPS is a successful learning environment. The staff and School Council have analysed these results and celebrated our success. The next step is to see how we can build on this success in 2018. Father’s Day stall Our fundraising committee has held the 2017 father’s day stall and it has also been a great success. Thank you to all involved and I wish all of our father’s a happy father’s day this weekend. Working Bee Our working bee is quickly approaching on the 16th of September. We have plans to mulch all of our garden beds, pull out all of our weeds and install a watering system throughout the school. If you are able to attend we would be very grateful. Additionally if you have a wheel barrow and a shovel please bring them along to help move the mulch and weeds. We will be providing a Subway Lunch for all families that can attend. Curriculum Day Monday 23 rd of October will be a student free curriculum day. The focus of the day is on our staff Professional Learning Community. Staff will be working with a renowned educational consultant who specialises in enhancing effectiveness of leaders and their teams; and in building purposeful, motivating cultures. This continues the goals within our strategic plan and our School Vision in building effective professional learning communities. Kind regards Laban Toose Principal
