Worcestershire:A Commissioning Authority

Our ambition to be an “excellent commissioning

authority” will mean we continue to seek the “right

service from the right provider at the right price for the

tax payer”.

5

• Unprecedented times in Local Government

• Radical changes within the Council

• Aspiration to become an excellent commissioning Authority

• All services will go through the Council’s Commissioning Cycle

What do we mean by commissioning?

6

• Commissioning not wholescale privatisation

• Commissioning by outcomes not process

• Robust contract monitoring

• Role of council changed from service provider to strategic commissioner

• Working in partnership – retaining accountability
