Curriculum Improvements Julian Carranza is developing online DHTI modules, using Soft Chalk to move to a web-based format incorporating
more pictures, charts, & diagrams using Flash animation to show processes
videotaping step by step procedures for lab completion Eliazar Martinez is working with Pete Brierley to develop
online modules for VoIP Juanita Marquez is offering hybrid CCNA courses for the first
time spring 2008 Microsoft Networking course enrollments more than doubled
when hybrid sections were added Several faculty use Tegrity, Camtasia, Winba Live Classroom,
Podcats and YouTube to enhance convergence technology courses
TestOut software used to monitor student performance, track statistics for viewing video, lab simulation grades and exam prep for certification

Articulation Agreements
Tech Prep agreements with 12 area ISDs for Network Administrator & Support AAS and Network Associate Certificate
Fall 08 dual credit in IT Essentials I (A+ prep) and Cisco CCNA 1 and 2 for 55 DISD students
Dallas CAN, Pegasus Charter School and students at 5 DISD HS also receive dual credit for IT courses
DCCCD has signed articulation agreements with 19 colleges/universities to transfer technical course credit toward
Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences degrees (BAAS)

Incumbent Workforce
A large number of students enrolled in CT courses are incumbent workers who return for retraining and/or preparation for certification and job promotions.
Many have received raises and job promotions as a result of knowledge and skills gain through their courses.

Recognition of Faculty in the ProgramJuanita Marquez is serving as Co-Chair of the Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee and represents all technical occupational programs.
The committee is developing a College Assessment Plan to be used by the instructional units and support service areas and will also assist with defining Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) at the course, program and college level to specify knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes students are expected to attain as a result of their involvement in a collegiate experience.

Recognition of Faculty in the Program Tracking student outcomes and documenting evidence of
achievement for SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) compliance is vital to achieving re-accreditation.
El Centro’s next re-accreditation will be in 2012
Juanita will take the lead in helping us with the CT curriculum mapping and defining SLOs that focus on mastery of core competencies needed in one course in order to be successful in a sequential course, degree, certificate and/or CT job.
