• A comment noted by the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) reads, “The “Animal House” stigma is still prevalent among fraternities.” The NIC goes on to say,

“…If you are looking for an experience like the one depicted in Animal House then you will find you efforts to be in vain. Chapters that perpetuate those behaviors seen in the movies find very quickly that they are operating not as a fraternity but rather a drinking club.”

“…academics are at the core of a fraternity's mission. You will find that graduation rates, retention, and GPA's are higher among those who seek to make fraternity part of their college experience.”

• It’s too expensive and I can’t afford it.– On average, less than 2% of students’ college expenses go toward

dues.

• Joining a Greek organization will jeopardize my academics.– Over 70% of Greek students graduate, while under 50% of non-Greek

students graduate.

• Becoming Greek doesn’t benefit you later in life.– 76% of our nation’s senators are Greek.– 70% of the top executives in Fortune 500 companies are Greek.– 71% of men listed in Who’s Who in America are in a fraternity.

According to a National study conducted by Tau Kappa Epsilon

• Although the perception and stereotypes of Greek organizations are bad, if you look at many studies you will find that these perceptions and stereotypes are often skewed.
