Tarantula on the Balcony It was a sunny normal day. I was sitting on the sofa acting like sunning

lizard, while, reading a book. My mum was in the kitchen banging pots and pans, making something. My brother was in his room, doing his homework or acting like he was doing his homework. I was nearly at the end of chapter 6 in my book. I asked my mum,

“Do you have something I could do to help you?” I said as I put my bookmark at chapter 7.

My mum answered, “No. I don’t think there’s anything you could help me. But thanks for asking,” my mum said looking at her schedule list.

I opened my book again and started reading when suddenly, there was a yellow and black small fuzzy thing was outside the balcony. I stood up and went to the window and saw that it was a tarantula. Yikes!!!!! I backed up, getting to the kitchen and said, “Mmmmmum. There’s a ttttttttarantula outside the bbbbbbbbbalcony.” I said frightened with fear.

My mum stopped doing her work and slowly went to the balcony. She said

“Get me a piece of paper. I’ll get this tarantula off the balcony.” My mum said looking more like a military attack force.

I got a piece of paper from the tea table and ran fast and gave it to my mum who caught it and put the tarantula on the paper and let the spider go on the piece of paper. Then she holds the paper upside down but it didn’t go down. She shook it and finally the fuzzy thing got off the paper and went down the ground. I was so relieved. My brother came out and said,

“What are you doing out there?” he said with sleepy eyes wondering why his mum was out in the balcony holding a piece of paper which just then, a tarantula was on.

My mum told him that before he came out, there was a yellow and black tarantula at our balcony. He looked really surprised even taught I think he heard me run to the table. Well, I guess he was sleeping and couldn’t hear me run. My mum started to get back to the kitchen and started to make a big noise. My brother got back to his work and continued what he was doing or maybe he got back to sleep. And I continued to read my book again. And I

learned something. I learned that a tarantula could be on your balcony in Sydney. I thought that tarantulas are usually in a pet shop or an insect farm. I would never want to see a tarantula again. EVER!!

Phillip IslandAs the cars and buildings passed through the bus window, I

looked down to see my watch. It was 5:10 and I was in the hot and stuffy bus to Phillip Island, Melbourne. Besides me …….was my mom who was sleeping hunched in her seat. My dad and my brother was in the adjacent seats and were snoring loudly too. I was the only one awake. My dad promised that Phillip Island was a place where there are a lot of little penguins. I thought that just to …see slow walking penguins; you had to travel for about 2 hours. I thought it was kind of awkward and tiring. After that, I don’t remember because I went to asleep from boredom too. My mom woke me in about 6:50 and I said, “Are we here?” I moaned waking up. My mom said, “We’re nearly here,” She said excitedly. Ok, she was excited. But not me…. I was so hungry. I looked outside and we were in Phillip Island and we ran through the village. The villages were very beautiful, full of small houses. They were no big, huge, tall buildings and there were only a few cars. They were almost all painted green with trees. I really like places like this. Peaceful and quiet…. Then, there was an announce saying, “We are on Phillip Island and we are nearly here. But do not take off your seatbelts and as

Page 4: Writing on Issuu.com

we said before, you are not allowed to take photos and do games because the penguins will be scared and they won’t come out. Secondly, do not bring food or water. Thank you for riding this bus.” The announcer said with her very high voice that made me snap out of my dreaming. Then, we were there, and then suddenly, wallabies came jumping at us. I was really surprised. They were really cute. It really fits to this island. I could hear the sea waves crashing to the sand. I really loved the sound of waves crashing to the sand. We went in the building and saw that it was 7:00 so we ate. When it was about 8:00 we went out and there were so many hills with holes in them. “Are the holes there for the penguins to live?” I asked to my mom who was walking fast beside me, wanting a good seat that you could see clearly. Though I thought, we aren’t going to be in our seats forever. We could get up and see the penguins more closely. Faraway, I saw seats that faced to the ocean where the penguins will come out. When everyone seated, the penguins came out. I saw the penguins come out of the water and start walking. They were really cute!!!! Some of them were falling and some of them were sliding on the grass (they couldn’t really slide cause it’s grass but trying to). Everyone got up from their seats and started to walk with them. I wanted the place to be peaceful but it couldn’t because everyone was screaming like mad and talking and some people were taking pictures secretly. We got out in about 9:00 and went slowly outside to the buses. I really was tired and happy at the same time thinking how fun it was.

I really was glad to see this all but except for the talking and screaming. It was really fun. I should have trusted my dad who

said the truth. They were really were cute penguins. I never

Page 5: Writing on Issuu.com

thought that I would be able to see wild penguins. I learned that to see wild cute penguins, I don’t mind at all if it takes 2 hours. That’s why I like penguins. I guess I should trust my dad more

often.

Boy Shocks Librarian“Warning: stay away from this boy. You don’t know

what he will do to you.”

Before Halloween, a spine chilling crime has happened. On Thursday, a very kind hearted librarian nearly had a heart attack after a 5th grade boy, Alex Orkin (10) in Mr. Murphy’s class popped out of the library box. The remarkably flexible 5th grader hid inside

Page 6: Writing on Issuu.com

the box till the unsuspected Ms Field came up the stairs of the cafeteria building library box. When the librarian was about to open the box, the boy leaped out of the box wearing a skull pirate mask. The librarian fell to the ground with whitened eyes. The victim nearly had a heart attack but the librarian fully recovered.

The prankster said delightfully, “That was very fun! But I wish the library box was much bigger. I got a little cramped.”

Even though the victim didn’t really have an injury, Alex Orkin did shock her, but the boy didn’t realize what he had done.

“The prank was so GOOD!!” said Nanako Kurosu. “I was laughing out loud!! It was so COOL!!!!” said Daniela

LoBianco. We don’t know what will happen next in Mr. Murphy’s class.

It might be a girl doing a prank next time… Let’s hope that no one gets hurt…

The Really Bad Cafeteria Food

" Even though it is not good to play with your food, when I drop it on the floor, it bounces so I can play with them!!"

When kids at ASIJ run to the cafeteria, they expect real food, like on hot dog

days; all these kids think “oh, hotdogs”!! They're the best because they are hotdogs, but the dogs themselves taste a little funny. They don' taste like real hot dogs should. And yet the kids run to eat it them. They just think, "hot dog…. hot dog"!! When they take the first bite, they usually get very sick and turn all green. Real hot dogs are very good, but these hot dogs are putrid as the children say. They don't have anything to eat, so they eat it with an ill face.

Page 7: Writing on Issuu.com

Some people devour the dogs and say, "Oh this is so good!! I'm glad they took away the Mac and cheese for these great hot dogs!!” That's why the hot dog day is surviving! They're more people who like it, than the people who hate it." But these kids are WRONG!! They need to improve their standards.  But hotdogs aren't the only disgusting food at the school. The worst of all is the pizza. It's fake and not to be eaten. The old pizza was to die for. The tomato source is real, plus the cheese was perfect. Some of the kids say, "I mostly hate everything!! Bluh!! I hate it!! It's disgusting!! The pizza bread tastes like cardboard and the cheese tastes like rubber!! Potato wedges are so good!! They are the best. I want the pizzas to be dominos pizzas and the hot dogs to be real dogs!!!!!!!!!! They are both bad!! I can bounce it and play basketball!!" But they are not the only disgusting food!! There is a lot more!! So watch out for these cafeteria ladies who make these horrible lunches.   By The Horrible Cafeteria Food Weekly

Crime of the 4th Grade Kids!!“This is so dangerous. We have to be careful. I couldn’t believe it.”

On Monday, one of the fourth grade student had committed a crime. At recess, the fourth graders came out running recklessly through the cafeteria building hallway just like a herd of rhinoceros. The 5th graders fled in terror screaming, “Oh my gosh they are so weird. I mean they are so dangerous...” However, silence soon followed when

Page 8: Writing on Issuu.com

an overly large fourth grader pushed a 5th grade girl who hit her head at the wall.

It was reported by some 5th graders. “They are really annoying. I don’t really know how to stop them. It disturbs me when I am studying.”

She was sent to the hospital immediately and had underwent surgery. The doctor who performed the operation said, “Whoever pushed the girl is very strong. This is a very serious crime...” The girl though, had survived and in the hospital bed she said, “I had no idea I would be in the hospital. It’s so scary.” The boy’s parents were sent to the police but as you know, the victim has survived so they were led out free. All though, this kid is not the only one who had committed a crime. Laying bags all over the ground, shouting and screaming as they come out the classrooms, there is so much disaster that we can’t name it all!! This is a very serious crime happening everyday at the hallway. The 5th graders are very annoyed all the time…

Are you a Good or a Bad?

Page 9: Writing on Issuu.com

Want to see your parents and teacher’s amazed face?Would you consider yourself as a good student? What makes a

great student? I am sure that you have come across rude, loud students who are basically annoying. That’s what we call DREADFUL STUDENTS and they should be kicked out of lessons until they learn how to behave. How does one ensure that they are a superior student? Be nice to everyone? Wear new clothes every day? Have good grades? What is the best way?

These are 7 obvious ways to be a perfect student. First of all, you have to be “Positive” to everyone. A high performing student will always has a positive attitude. Secondly, pay attention to the teacher and do not make them scold at you or be angry at you, even if he/she is in a bad mood. Third, you have to be “Attentive” to everything. A good student will listen to what the teacher and he’s or she’s fellow class mates are saying, rather than talking at the same time which now days, the kids often do. Fourth, you have to be punctual with your assignments. Always be a “Hard worker”. A perfect student will always try his or hers best and spends time doing it, making sure not to waste the precious time. Fifth, be “Cooperative”. A very good student will cooperate with the lecture and will be more than happy to help their class mates to improve. Sixth, do your homework completely neat and make sure you bring it to school. Always be a “Hard Worker”. And do not be late to school and be prepared to class. The last and not least, a top student will brighten the class as they will be aware of when to fool around. Be “Fun”!! These are all the ways to make a good student.

Many years ago, the children obeyed the lecture and their parents like they were God. Now days, the kids are ignoring the rules, this is astonishing. We have to hope that when we get old, the kids in 2030 or more will follow this advice.

Movie World (Warner Bros Movie World) is basically opened with a focus on going behind the scenes of movie-making. In Movie World, there is BATWING Spaceshot, SUPERMAN Escape, Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, ROAD RUNNER, Wild West Falls, Lethal Weapon, BATMAN Adventure, and WB! Fun Zone (LOONEY TUNES)!! Some of the names sound very childish but you are very WRONG and it is all totally chilling and very fun.

Right next door to Movie World is Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World, the largest water park in Australia. It features a wide variety of water slides, from gentle tube slides to more extreme rides with vertical drops and fast turns. There are pools to swim and splash around it, and more than enough to fill a day. Now in Wet ‘n’ Wild, there is also a new slide named “Aqua Loop.” In the ride there is not one loop or two….. but 4 loops! The new ride begins when the trap door is released and the rider plummets in to a massive vertical free fall drop and then up into a transparent looping slide! And there goes the 4 slides that are gut wrenching and heart-pounding!!
