THE CHRONOLOGY of THE FIRE INCIDENT

There was a fire at a timber warehouse located outside JGC Cluster C Phase 1 landed house at 13 April 2012.  Due to large stock pile of timber, the fire raged throughout the night.

Our JGC team was at the scene throughout to take preventive action before the fire brigade handle the situation.

The team also monitor and support the fire brigade with supply of water from our water reservoir to put out the fire and prevent its spread to our cluster.

ACTION TAKEN DURING THE FIRE INCIDENT

• For 3 days after the fire for 24 hours there is always staff who voluntarily willing to do surveillance to prevent fires climbed into our clusters without overtime calculated. Very touching, seeing one of our staff who live not far from our office, in the middle of the night always comes to replacing team members that already exhausted.

• There are staff who although not the main task is willing to support the team, although it did not seem important task but it actually means a lot to support the team. There is one manager in particular every mealtime always buy meals for the whole team involved

ACTION TAKEN DURING THE FIRE INCIDENT

• Be there for customer……. Due to the location of the fire is directly adjacent to the houses that have been occupied by residents, our staff strive to prevent the spread of fire to the cluster.

• Our staff helps residents to move their belongings to the units in the cluster c that has not been handed over to the buyer. Very touching when they tearfully thanked the assistance of our staff have helped the process of moving their stuff.

• Efforts of our staff to provide assurance to the residents in the cluster C that Jakarta Garden City will do everything possible to prevent the spread of the fire to make them able to calmly deal with the catastrophic fires

ACTION TAKEN DURING THE FIRE INCIDENT

• In this event, all departments in Jakarta Garden City actively involved to provide support to the field teams to solve problems that occur during a fire.

• All team members provide valuable input to complete this fire. Internal discussions arise creative ideas that appear to complete this enormous fire.

• Effective communication and coordination done by this team. We have a team that coordinates with firefighting institutions to operate their equipment for 3 days in a row, a team that communicates with the local security officers and community leaders to exchange security (very surprise that during the fire there is not one item was missing moreover the region where the project is actually Cakung Jakarta Garden city is well known as one of the locations with the highest crime rate in Jakarta)

ACTION TAKEN DURING THE FIRE INCIDENT

• Since the initial design cluster, Jakarta Garden City is giving high attention to the provision of support equipment in case of fire in which one of them is fire hydrant. Fire hydrant in the cluster is very helpful for the prevention of early stage if a fire occurred before the arrival of the fire brigade equipment assistance. From this experience, since the first report to the office of the fire brigade takes a half hour for the arrival of a fire engine. Therefore, the first action of the internal team will determine whether the resulting disaster is the greater or minimized.

• Very useful emergency drill that has been done so far which one of them is a fire drill recently conducted by the security team and engineering team four months earlier. It appears that within fifteen minutes after the occurrence of fires security team and engineering team has been able to master the skills of the state with the use of fire extinguisher and just hose rell and fire hydrant

LESSON LEARN

• Passion. With the passion of each staff who aim to provide the best beyond the main task and willingness to coordinate well it will get the best results.

• Collective Strength. With good cooperation between all departments, the implementation of such a heavy task can be executed with optimum results.

• Proved that the emergency drill is useful. It is evident that simulations of emergencies we've done very influential at the time we had a real emergency.
