Did You Kn ow?
Achieving our first two campaign goals will allow the parish to retire
our Education Center and land purchase loans. This frees up
nearly $280,000 in annual debt payments and can be used to
support our ministries.
In just two weeks, the Generosity for Generations Capital
Campaign will officially begin!
Please make plans to join in our Kickoff Weekend celebration on September 24-25.
Attend Mass and join fellow parishioners as we celebrate our tradition of vibrant faith and generous stewardship.
Special thanks to the 87 families who have graciously offered to be a part of the campaign volunteer team. They are in the process of being trained and have already begun making their pledges to the campaign.
If you missed the first three installments of the Frequently Asked Questions series, please visit saintvdp.org/campaign or visit the parish office for a copy. The last installment of the series will be published on September 17-18, and will cover ways that you can structure your pledge.
ATTENTION MOMS!
Come join Moms Morning Out (MMO) for coffee, fellowship, and learning
about parenting and faith!
Our first meeting of the year will be Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 9:30 - 11:00 AM,
in the West Meeting Room. We meet the third Tuesday of each month, and
free childcare is available at the meetings. There are no requirements for participation, so please join us when you can! You are welcome to bring friends --
they do not need to be St. Vincent's parishioners. For more information,
The SVDP Knights, Council 9139, will again lead and coordinate our annual prayer vigil on Saturday, October 15, from 6 AM to 4 PM at the Robbinsdale Clinic P.A., located at 3819 West Broadway, Robbinsdale MN, 55422. In 2015 the clinic performed 1,039 abortions - in our backyard! The clinic is the third largest provider of abortions in the state of Minnesota.
The 10 hours will be broken into five 2 hour prayer vigils. Two hours of your prayers may save a life of a child. We are holding the vigil in support of the "40 Days for Life" international effort that has had great success in reducing the number of abortions, closing abortion facilities across the United States and encouraging employees to find alternate work. 40 Days for Life’s focus is the Planned Parenthood building in St. Paul.
With God's blessings, SVDP experienced a baby save during our 2015 prayer vigil. Also, our efforts helped to close the abortion center at Regions Hospital located in St. Paul, MN. Put the date on your calendar; your support is needed. Questions? Contact Duane Crosland ([email protected]) or Mark Bergeron ([email protected]).
DO YOU SING OR
PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?
The SVDP music ministry has many choirs and ensem-bles that are looking for new members. Come and share your musical talents. Check
J O I N U S A F T E R A L L M A S S E S, as we get back into the swing of things at St. Vincent de Paul!
Saturday evening: Bring your lawn chair or blanket for a picnic with a Walking Taco Supper! ($5/person, max of $20 per family) Giant Jenga, Music, Kickball, Bean Bags, and Great Company!
Sunday morning: Join us for great food and fellowship! Coffee and pastries after the 7:30 AM Mass; Bingo & Prizes after 9 AM Mass; Vikings Game & Sloppy Joe Lunch after 11 AM Mass ($5/person, max $20/family)
We can’ t wait to see YOU!
UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY OF THE BIBLE
St. Vincent de Paul will be offering Jeff
Cavins’ most recent version of the Bible time-
line study for adults. This eight-part study pro-
vides the easiest way to understand the Bible
making the complex simple. It helps you make
sense of the Bible so that you get the “big
picture” and discover the remarkable connections between
the Old and New Testaments. This study relates the Bible to
your daily life and you will see how the Sacraments, the
Church, and our entire Catholic Faith is rooted in Scripture.
Mondays, October 3—November 28 (not on Halloween),

WOMEN OF FAITH GROUP BEGINS THIS THURSDAY
Step deeper into your faith with a core group of women where you can grow together in your spirituality. This is a nine week session where we will be discussing the book Blessed Are You: Finding Inspiration from Our Sisters in Faith by Melanie Rigney who uses stories of the saints, our sisters in faith, to help readers grow in their spiritual lives. The lives of each of these women illustrate the qualities of the Beatitudes in a down-to-earth and human way which will help women find ways to live more fully the Christian life.
We will be meeting Thursdays, from 7:15-8:45 PM, Sept. 15 to Nov. 17 (with no meeting on Oct. 20), in the West Meeting Room. This group is open to all women who want to deepen their relationship with God. Space is limited to the first 12 women that respond.
Cost of the book is $15 which will be due at the first meet-ing. If you are interested in
…has expressed interest in becoming Catholic? …Is an adult who has never been baptized? …Was baptized Catholic as a child but has not celebrated First Communion and Confirmation? …Is an adult baptized Catholic who received First Reconciliation and First Communion but never celebrated Confirmation?
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn about the Catholic Faith. Sessions focus on the teachings of the Bible/Jesus, the experience of Church, how the Catholic Faith can enrich one’s life and prepares for reception of Sacraments, always allowing time for your questions. A new group is now forming for sessions that will begin on Thursday, Sept. 15, 7-8:30 PM in the Community Room.
If you know someone who might be interested in the RCIA, invite them and share this information. If you are interested in the RCIA, have questions about the RCIA or if Thursdays don’t work for your schedule, contact Chuck Pratt to discuss options at 763-762-7407 or [email protected].

Adorers are needed for each one hour period from 12 AM, Friday, October 7 to 12 AM October 8. Our nation and world continue to face many challenges in these areas. Your prayers do make a difference.

JUSTFAITH PROGRAM SESSIONS BEGIN OCTOBER 3
The JustFaith modules nicknamed JustMatters have provided our parishioners with a clear and planned way to discuss, learn, and build community as we study issues of our times. One of the goals is to invite us to consider engaging in a productive action in relation to the focus issue of any particular module.
The JustMatters modules range from six to eight weeks of 2 ½-hour sessions. All sessions include prayer, dialogue, active listening, and relationship-building. Some sessions may include DVDs and/or guest speakers.
The next 8-week (every Monday night) session titled “The Sultan and the Saint” begins on Monday, October 3 at 6:30 PM.
This eight-session JustMatters module brings Muslims and Christians together in dialogue. It aims to cultivate mutual understanding and appreciation of what these faith traditions hold in common, as well as the ways in which they differ. By nurturing relationships across religious boundaries, participants will model interfaith cooperation as they live out a central tenet of both faiths: to love God and to love our neighbor.
For registration and/or more information, contact Okey Anyanwu in the parish office: 763-762-7417; Email: [email protected]

CHILDREN MEALS
During August 2016 SVDP volunteers packed
their 2 millionth FMSC meal - equivalent to feeding
5,479 kids for a full year! The Tuesday morning
volunteers celebrated the achievement with a party at the FMSC headquarters.
Please consider joining this important ministry of feeding God's hungry children worldwide. Each month, 100 SVDP volunteers pack the 3rd Friday from 6 to 7:30 PM and the 4th Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the Coon Rapids site. Fulfill a corporal work of mercy, make new friends, spend time with your family, keep a kid alive for another day! Wows! Participate monthly or as available. Contact Duane Crosland at [email protected]
or at 763-441-8683.
We need and love new volunteers.
T e e n s DO YOU ENJOY SINGING? ARE YOU IN GRADES 7-12?
We are forming a NEW group (and we could really use your help deciding what to name it!) to sing at Mass once/month and rehearse Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:15 in the church. This group will sing almost all contemporary music and will collaborate with EDGE (youth group) one Wednesday/month for a fun hour of praise and worship! No singing experience necessary. Our first rehearsal will be this Wednesday, September 14. Please email [email protected] with questions.
EDGE YOUTH GROUP DATES FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR
Our Youth Group for 7th & 8th Graders — EDGE — will have a new format this year. Please mark your calendar with these Wednesdays from 5:30—7:30 PM. More details will be available soon!
