Japan Karatedo Federation
As the President of the Japan Karatedo Federation, I would like to welcome all the
competitors and officials from all over the world. It is indeed a great pleasure to have
the Karate 1 Premier League Tokyo at the Nippon Budokan.
This event draws the attention of many people not only in Japan but also abroad as
the preliminary skirmish of the Tokyo 2020. I am sure that everybody will enjoy the
powerful and fascinating competition.
I hope all the athletes gathered here will be able to demonstrate their fair techniques
gained from daily training and that they will be able to strengthen their mutual
friendship and promote international goodwill through Karatedo. I trust that it will
lead to world peace.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the kind and warm support of the
World Karate Federation, and my sincere thanks to the organising committee who
worked very hard in preparing this event.

2 Introduction The Karate1-Premier League is the most important league event in the world of Karate.
It comprises of a number of the most prominent Karate competitions and endeavours
to bring together the best Karate athletes in the world in an open Championships of
unprecedented scale and quality.
Initiated in 2011, the 2019 edition is formed by seven events being held in the cities
of Paris, Dubai, Rabat, Shanghai, Tokyo, Moscow and Madrid thus stating Karate’s
impact all around the world and its global scale. The city of Tokyo hosts a Karate 1-
Premier League event for the second time.
At the end of the season, the champions of each category are presented with the
“Grand Winners” award. In order to be eligible to receive the “Grand Winners” award,
competitors have to participate in at least 4 events in 2 continents of the season.
3 WKF Approved Items The Karate 1-Premier League complies with the highest level of presentation. In order
to guarantee the correct delivery of the event, and to ensure the suitable quality of
the tournament, exclusively the following brands are WKF Approved for use in the
2019 Karate 1-Premier League Season.

7.1 TV Production
All the events of the 2019 Karate 1 – Premier League will present TV. The competition
on Sunday will be broadcast to a worldwide viewing audience through a high quality
TV production which will be made available to TV networks around the world.

Press accreditation can only be given to professional journalists working for a media
and having proof of their credentials.

9 Online Registration
The registration starts two (2) months prior to the event, on July 6th, 2019 and
close fifteen (15) days before the tournament, on August 22nd, 2019 at the 12:00
hrs GMT +0 and it is divided in the following three phases (all phases will
close at the 12:00 hrs GMT +O of the listed day);
• Phase 1, from July 6th to July 20th, 2019: limited to the NFs, TWO competitors
per category and country, ranked among the 50 first of the ranking.
• Phase 2, from July 21st to August 4th, 2019: In the event that any of the TWO
registrations of the phase 1 have not been completed by the NFs, free
registration of athletes, ranked among the 50 first of the ranking (always
keeping the limit of TWO per country).
• Phase 3, from August 5th to August 22nd, 2019: free registration, limited to 64
athletes per category, ranked among the 100 first of the ranking.

No onsite registration will be accepted. The registration will be validated once
completed the online payment through the payment platform. In case of any

Individuals and National Federations are responsible for the quality of the entered
registration data. Once close the online registration, any comments will have to notified
to the software and to the WKF at latest five day before the first day of competition.

The official accreditation will take place on Thrusday, September 5th, 2019 from
10.00 a.m. to 16.00 p.m. at the Nippon Budokan.

If changes are required during the official registration session because of incorrect or
missing registration data, a fee of € 20 is charged for each change.
At registration, accreditation cards will be issued with the participants main data, a
photograph and information about registered categories. The accreditation card must
be worn at all times during the event.
Only members of national federations recognized by WKF are admitted to participate,
as per Premier League Organising Rules 2019 (PL OR Point 6 Registration).
All participants must submit an official document (passport or other valid
ID card) for the WKF identification and validation at the accreditation
session.
The accreditation of any competitor must be done by the athlete or the
athlete’s coach, in person bringing the athlete passport or other valid ID at
the accreditation session.
The competitor who has not collected, either personally or through his/her
coach the accreditation during the official registration, will not be included
in the draw.
The weighing will be carried out immediately after receiving the
accreditation, those athletes who will not attend the weighing will not be
included in the draw.
10 Categories The competition categories are identical to those of Senior World Championships
except for Kumite team.

11 Entry Fee The entry fees are € 75 per individual category entry and € 150 per team category
entry.

11.1 Payment
All payments must be process through the online payment platform. No onsite payment
will be accepted.
12 WKF Accredited Coach According to the Coach License Manual, the minimum level required to take part in the Karate 1 events is the “Accredited Coach” level. To obtain such certification, coaches must attend a compulsory Coach Briefing.

The unit of Japanese currency is yen. Coins are available in denominations of 1, 5, 10,
50, 100 and 500 yen and bank notes in denominations of 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and
10,000 yen. The smallest form of currency is the 1 yen coin, and the largest form of
currency is the 10,000 yen bill. The 5 yen coin and 50 yen coin are rare worldwide in
that they have holes in the middle of them. Please note that the values of all coins and
bills excluding the 5 yen coin are written in Arabic numerals. Only the 5 yen coin has
no Arabic numerals on it.
The 1,000 yen bill and 100 yen coin are used often. In addition to being accepted by
many vending machines, the 1,000 yen bill makes your shopping go smoothly at the
cash register. In addition, the 100 yen coin is the most widely-used coin in areas with
automated installments such as coin-operated lockers and washing machines.
Financial services and Banking hours
Regular banking hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 15:00. All banks are closed
on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays.
Also you may withdraw money with major credit cards or international cash card in
Japan Post Bank ATMs or ATMs at major convenience stores. ATM marked with a Plus
symbol will accept automated banking cards from outside Japan.
Note: for transactions that incur service charges, a fee is charged for the
number of transactions.
Major credit cards are accepted in most business establishments. The Japanese Yen
has a favorable exchange rate. Most shops and restaurants will accept major
international credit cards e.g. Visa, MasterCard, American Express Card, Diners Club,
but no Euro Card is accepted in Japan; but it is recommended to visit the nearest major
bank to change it to CASH for your convenience.
Taxes GST(8 % ) is collected in the entire country for all services and products.
The stores used to be required to show the after-tax prices; however, since the
increase of GST in 2014, some shops are now also displaying pre-tax prices.
Tax free shopping is available to international guests only at licensed stores when
making purchases of over 5,000 yen at a given store or mall. A passport is required
when shopping tax free.

All participants must hold a valid passport and requested to take care of their individual
travel documents & permits (visa, etc.) on a timely basis.

JTB, official travel agency, they will contact you directly and ask you to for some
application questions and JTB will send you the necessary package “official invitation
letter” to your mentioned address by DHL or EMS as soon as possible.
After receiving the package, applicants need to submit the passport with the necessary
forms to the Consulate with the jurisdiction at a Japanese Embassy or Consulate
General which is mentioned in your paper. It will take at least one week for the visa
to be issued, so it is highly recommended to consider the timing for the application.
